One-stop support for home appliances, power equipment, and automotive electrical components
The Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI, President Shin Hee-dong) has been designated as the official testing and certification agency for Hyundai and Kia, and will provide one-stop electromagnetic compatibility certification services ranging from home appliances and power equipment to automotive electrical components.
KETI announced on the 16th that its Gwangju regional headquarters was designated as an official certification testing agency for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) related to automobile electrical components by Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corporation.
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors’ electromagnetic compatibility certification program is a system that selects excellent external professional testing agencies that have established an electromagnetic reliability verification system and issues certificates. Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors’ partners (parts manufacturers) that do not have relevant certificates must conduct tests through professional testing agencies.
KETI Gwangju Regional Headquarters (Director Won Gwang-ho) has been designated as the only certification testing institute in the Honam region for the automotive electrical components sector of Hyundai and Kia, and will now provide timely support for electromagnetic performance testing of automotive electrical components manufacturers in the region.
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors have been recognizing only test reports issued by designated testing agencies since 2015, and this year, three agencies, including KETI, have been operating a total of 15 testing agencies nationwide. The coffin was additionally selected.

Meanwhile, as the demand for large-capacity electric vehicles is rapidly increasing, KETI's registration as an automobile certification testing agency will enable testing and certification of both power equipment and automobile products, which will enable rapid technical support for products from companies in the Honam region.
The DC Electrical and Electronic Industry Promotion Center (KOLAS International Accredited Testing Institute), which opened in 2017 with KETI Gwangju Regional Headquarters as the main organization, has established a system to support one-stop performance testing, measurement, and analysis of small, large-capacity industrial, power, and automotive electronic products by utilizing cutting-edge infrastructure such as high-voltage, large-capacity power facilities.
According to Song Seong-geun, head researcher at the Gwangju Regional Headquarters, the center has conducted tests on LVDC (Low Voltage DC) devices used by general consumers and HVDC (High Voltage DC) devices used for large-scale power transmission, and has produced results by carrying out a national research and development project for testing and certification of MVDC (Medium Voltage DC) devices used in distribution networks.
Won Gwang-ho, head of KETI Gwangju Regional Headquarters, said, “Through this designation as a Hyundai-Kia EMC certification testing agency, we will be able to secure competitiveness in the local industry ahead of entering the future car market, such as eco-friendly electric vehicles (EVs) and autonomous vehicles, and help small and medium-sized companies open up sales channels.” He added, “The DC Electrical and Electronic Industry Promotion Center will provide new support to the home appliance and power equipment industries, as well as the electronic parts industry, focusing on DC devices in the future.”He said, “We will take the lead in establishing a foundation for pharmaceuticals and revitalizing the local economy.”
