Machinery and Defense Manufacturing Digital Transformation Support Center to be launched in May
The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI, President Shin Hee-dong) is starting to provide full-scale support for the entire digital transformation solution cycle for machinery and defense companies in Gyeongsangnam-do.
KETI announced on the 29th that it will establish and operate a 'Machinery and Defense Manufacturing Digital Transformation Support Center' to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the Changwon National Industrial Complex starting in May.
KETI was selected as the construction and operation business operator of the Machinery and Defense Manufacturing Digital Transformation (DX) Support Center through the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's '2024 Smart Green Industrial Complex Promotion Project' public offering in April.
The Manufacturing Digital Transformation Support Center is a 'regional DX technology control tower and hub' established to help manufacturing companies in the machinery and defense industries, which are the main industries of Changwon National Industrial Complex, make a leap forward. It supports total DX solutions such as DX model establishment, resolution of technical difficulties, and human resource specialization in the form of a package according to corporate needs, and aims to secure companies' own digital technology capabilities and build a private-sector-led DX ecosystem.
In the future, KETI, as the main organization of the Manufacturing Digital Transformation Support Center, plans to support the establishment of a digital transformation infrastructure specialized in the machinery and defense industry in the Changwon National Industrial Complex together with Gyeongnam Technopark, Gyeongnam National University, and Changwon National University (participating organizations).
KETI Southeast Regional Headquarters (Director Yoo Se-Hyeon), which is in charge of the operation of the center, will With a total project cost of KRW 28.15 billion, including KRW 14 billion in national funds over three years, four detailed projects will be promoted: △Establishment of a digital transformation support center, △Establishment of specialized equipment (HW/SW) for the entire digital transformation cycle, △Establishment of a digital transformation model, support for difficult technologies, etc., corporate support, and △Training of digital transformation experts through establishment of a DX campus.
In particular, starting in May, we plan to recruit companies that directly benefit from the digital transformation model that solves on-site corporate problems through a public contest, and if selected, they will be able to receive comprehensive support for building DX.
KETI Southeast Regional Headquarters expects that through this project, the actual DX effect will be expanded to the machinery and defense industry sites of Changwon National Industrial Complex, which will not only induce reinvestment by companies, but also spread the digital transformation ecosystem to the entire Gyeongnam industry.
KETI Southeast Regional Headquarters Director Yoo Se-hyun said, “I think it is very meaningful to operate the Digital Transformation Support Center for the next 50 years of Changwon National Industrial Complex, which has grown as the center of Korea’s machinery and defense industries over the past 50 years,” and “KETI Southeast Regional Headquarters will spare no support to help Changwon National Industrial Complex establish itself as the center of domestic autonomous manufacturing and digital industries.”
