MMS Launch, Optimizing Power Generation, Storage, and Load Management
AspenTech (Korea Branch Representative Kim Heung-sik), a global leader in industrial software, is helping asset-intensive organizations optimize power generation, storage, and load management for power availability, productivity, and security with the launch of a microgrid management system that helps customers address power stability and achieve carbon neutrality goals.
AspenTech has launched the AspenTech Microgrid Management System™ (MMS) for customers in power-intensive industries such as refining, chemical, mining and other asset-intensive industries.
This solution enables industrial sites to directly manage conventional and renewable energy generation by coordinating active load management and energy storage.
This solution is based on AspenTech’s proven OSI monarch™ SCADA platform, helping customers maximize operational performance and accelerate their carbon neutrality goals.
Looking at the standard AspenTech MMS features available today, it provides real-time control, trending, alerting and reporting capabilities to ensure system stability and incident response.
It also provides the ability to optimize renewable energy alongside traditional power generation and battery storage by balancing with active load management, and supports forecasting and scheduling capabilities to support peak power shaving and optimized battery charging/discharging.
<br /> It also provides a powerful user interface with reactive data historian and reporting capabilities.
Additionally, customers will have access to AspenTech’s full suite of digital grid management solutions for advanced capabilities.
With the electric grid at a critical juncture with increasing energy demand, aging infrastructure and capacity shortages, increased extreme weather events, and cybersecurity threats threatening reliability and stability, AspenTech MMS provides a critical capability for energy-hungry consumers.
Industrial and commercial energy consumers are increasingly exposed to the risk of prolonged blackouts, power consumption restrictions, and missed renewable energy targets, all of which have knock-on effects on production and business, including delayed restarts, environmental penalties, reduced supply, and increased end-user costs.
“AspenTech’s new microgrid solution builds on decades of electric utility control and automation experience managing more than 400 utilities globally to transform asset-intensive industries while reducing energy vulnerabilities and business risk,” said Sally Jacquemin, AspenTech’s vice president of power and utilities. “AspenTech MMS provides the functionality and flexibility to address power challenges, helping energy-intensive users achieve both their operational and carbon neutral goals.”
