The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI, President Shin Hee-dong) and the Korea Robot Convergence Institute (KIRO, President Yeo Jun-goo) have joined hands to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic robot industry and expand technological exchanges through a strategic partnership.

On the 2nd, KETI and KIRO signed a business agreement (MOU) for cooperation in the fields of advanced robots and artificial intelligence.

This agreement was carried out at the KETI Robot Plus Test Field located in Suseo, Seoul, and the two organizations agreed to establish a strategic partnership for joint technology development in cutting-edge fields such as AI and robots.

Since opening the Gangnam Robot Plus Test Field, Seoul’s first public robot infrastructure facility, KETI has been conducting demonstration development, technical support, and employee training using cutting-edge robots and related equipment.

KIRO is Korea's only specialized robot production technology research institute. It fosters domestic robot companies through robot convergence technology development and commercialization, and contributes to the establishment of robot technology policies and training of experts.

Through this agreement, the two organizations plan to promote joint planning and research and development for the development of cutting-edge national science and technology such as AI and robots, strengthen the manufacturing ecosystem and promote technology commercialization to enhance industrial competitiveness, and establish an international cooperation network to advance the technologies possessed by both organizations.

KETI President Shin Hee-dong said, “This business agreement will further strengthen the research capabilities of both institutions.”“We will lead the domestic robot industry through practical joint research and technology exchange,” he said.

KIRO Director Yeo Jun-goo said, “I hope this agreement will be a good opportunity to lead the development of AI and robotics technology in Korea,” and added, “We will cooperate to advance national science and technology and enhance industrial competitiveness.”
