AVANCI is making a full-scale foray into the Korean market with regard to licensing of standard essential patents in the automotive and broadcasting fields.
Avanci held a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel on the 4th and explained Avanci’s one-stop patent licensing platform.
The announcement that day was made by Avanshi CEO Kasim Al-Farahi and Vice President Jang Ho-sik.
CEO Kasim Al-Farahi said that Korea is an important market for Avansi, with the number of patent holders in the country steadily increasing and the number of licensees in the country rapidly increasing. Avansi will support manufacturers to access standard essential patents in a simple and efficient way so that they can focus more on innovative development.
As the convergence of technologies across different industries, such as connected cars and IoT, becomes more active, developers are faced with the situation of having to use more standard essential patent technologies.
In particular, companies wishing to use standard essential patents must go through a number of complicated processes due to various complex issues such as cost and finding a person in charge, but Avansi provides support to resolve these issues at once.
The Avansi platform allows you to license industry standard essential patents through a single transaction, paying a fixed rate for the life of a vehicle or device. Can be used.
This provides manufacturing companies that must use licenses with the benefit of crisis management that is simple and efficient and prevents patent disputes.
In particular, Avansi currently holds over 90% of the relevant standard essential patents for 4G in the automotive sector, and over 85% of all connected cars are using Avansi licenses.
More than 80 automobile brands are licensed, including Audi, BMW, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Renault.
Additionally, 56 patent holders have joined the cellular wireless standard essential patents.
Currently, 5G programs are also in discussion with patent holders and automakers.
In relation to broadcasting, it also provides a simple and transparent approach for manufacturers of ATSC 3.0 standard TVs and set-top boxes, and ETRI, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, etc. are participating as patent holders.
“In the future, collaboration between the 5G, automotive, and telecommunications industries is expected to expand further,” said CEO Qasim Al-Farahi. “In this situation, Avanci will provide a transparent and simplified licensing solution as a cellular standard-essential patent licensing platform for connected cars, providing a service that satisfies both patent holders and patent users.”
He also said, “We will do our best to support Korean companies’ participation in innovation development and technology sharing and provide global solutions for the growing number of Korean patent holders and licensees.”
