Mercedes-Benz has brought the level of its MBUX ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice assistant, unveiled in 2018, to Unity’s high-resolution game.It was reported that the visual aspect will be upgraded to a higher level with the introduction of the Lim Engine graphics, providing more convenient interaction between the driver and the car.
Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz AG, expressed his confidence by saying, “With the MBUX Virtual Assistant using AI technology, Mercedes-Benz is creating new experiences that offer natural interactions and include empathetic characteristics such as the harmony of driving style and mood. The MB.OS architecture that provides these technologies will define the future of digital luxury.”
In addition, Mercedes-Benz announced that it will unveil four electric vehicle models (including a four-door coupe and SUV) based on its own platforms, MMA and MB.OS, at CES 2024, and that it will also introduce an electric G-Class model.
■ Continental – SDV
Continental won an innovation award in the Advanced Mobility category at CES 2024 for its ‘Radar Vision Parking Solution’.

'Radar Vision Parking Solution' is a technology that combines high-resolution surround radar and high-resolution cameras to measure the surrounding environment of the vehicle with great precision.<br />
The radar is so compact that it can be mounted on the back of any bumper, and when used with a camera it provides a 360-degree view around the vehicle.
The radar vision parking solution meets the safety requirements of the European New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) while providing better design and performance.
In this way, Continental's integrated solution is designed for future SDVs as a software and hardware system that accurately manages in-vehicle information.
“Continental offers a wide range of parking solutions based on advanced radar and camera technology,” said Daniel Foerster, head of Parking and Human Vision in Continental’s Autonomous Driving business unit. “This allows OEMs to reduce vehicle complexity by reducing sensors, wiring and overall hardware in the vehicle, while implementing aesthetically pleasing designs – minus the ultrasonic sensors that wrap around the front and rear bumpers.”
■ Bosch – SoC for SDV
At CES 2024, Bosch will demonstrate the fusion of infotainment and driver assistance functions in a single, software-intensive central computer on a single system-on-chip (SoC).

At the heart of Bosch's new vehicle computer, dubbed the Cockpit and ADAS Integrated Platform, is a single system-on-chip (SoC) that handles multiple functions in both infotainment and driver assistance simultaneously.
For example, this includes automated parking and lane detection combined with smart, personalized navigation and voice assistance. The advantage for automakers is that it reduces costs, as less space and cabling is required.
Dr. Markus Hein “At CES, Bosch is taking an important step forward by demonstrating our new vehicle computer platform,” said Markus Heyn, member of the Bosch board of management and chairman of the board of management for mobility. “The integrated vehicle computer is the heart of the SDV. In the future, it will control all areas of today’s vehicles and reduce the number of individual control units that exist today.”
“In the medium term, our goal is to bring more automated driving capabilities to the road, including in the small and medium-sized car segments,” he continued.
■ Valeo - LiDAR
Valeo, a leader in LiDAR sensors, will present its SCALA 3 LiDAR, an innovation award winner, at CES 2024.

SCALA 3 is the only lidar sensor in Europe that can be installed on autonomous level 3 vehicles and meets all automotive industry quality and safety standards.
In March 2023, Valeo reported that orders for SCALA 3 alone had exceeded €1 billion in the past 18 months.
SCALA 3 high-density point cloud and associated AI-based perception software enable high-speed autonomous driving on highways, opening up user experiences in the scope of Level 3 autonomous driving systems.Expectations are high that it will dramatically increase the value of teeth.
Valeo also said that at CES 2024, it will provide an opportunity to learn more about its AI-based perception software and how it can help classify objects identified by lidar in point clouds.
■ Hyundai Motor Company – Hydrogen, SW, AI
Hyundai Motor Company presented its future vision under the theme of ‘Great Transition to Hydrogen and Software: Ease every way’ and announced that it will redefine the role of Hyundai Motor Company by adding comfort to all aspects of daily life through ‘human-centered’ life innovation for a better world beyond the ‘movement’ aspect of mobility.
▲Teaser image of Hyundai Motor Company’s participation in CES 2024 (Image source: Hyundai Motor Group) Hyundai Motor Company's future vision to be announced at CES will include a hydrogen energy ecosystem based on the group's value chain and a blueprint for the future and the innovative values of a 'human-centered' life that will be brought to the world through a software-centered transformation.
In particular, Hyundai Motor Company is unveiling a comprehensive hydrogen solution that will accelerate the transition to a hydrogen society by eliminating energy inequality and promoting positive changes in everyday life through infinite and clean hydrogen energy.
In addition, we plan to introduce Hyundai Motor Group's software strategy and future changes to go beyond innovation in mobility and build a user-centered, optimized ecosystem by connecting people, mobility, data, and cities based on software and AI.
Hyundai Motor Company will present to the public exhibits that reflect proven technologies related to hydrogen energy ecosystem innovation and software transformation, and will also exhibit various future technologies that realize a human-centered vision, from personal mobility to public mobility and logistics.
■ Kia - PBV
Participating in CES for the first time in five years, Kia will showcase the future of sustainable PBV mobility solutions under the theme of ‘All Set for Every Inspiration,’ prepared by Kia.
▲Kia CES 2024 participation teaser image (Image source: Hyundai Motor Group) As this is an event where the company is participating with a new brand following the 'Brand Relaunch' that changed its logo in 2021, the company plans to intensively publicize Kia's PBV vision and business strategy.

▲Garmin Autoland (Photo source: Garmin Aviation YouTube video capture)
Garmin won the Innovation Award in the Vehicle Technology and Advanced Mobility category for its Autoland autonomous flight and landing system (Garmin Autoland).
Garmin Autoland is the world's first certified system that can be activated in an emergency situation and autonomously control and land an aircraft without human intervention.
In the event of an emergency, such as pilot incapacitation, passengers can activate Autoland and land the aircraft simply by pressing a dedicated button, and the landing function can be automatically activated if the Autoland system determines it is necessary.
When activated, the system instantly calculates a flight path to the most suitable airport and runway, avoiding terrain and adverse weather conditions, initiates the approach, and automatically lands the aircraft.
The Autoland system was previously available only on some new production aircraft, but is now also available as a retrofit solution.
