에티포스가 80억 규모 시리즈A 투자 유치에 이어 미연방통신위원회(Federal Communications Commission, FCC)로부터 V2X 주파수 사용 승인을 취득하며 미국 사업의 본격화를 알렸다.
US Department of Transportation plans to build V2X infrastructure on 260,000 km of highways and 300,000 intersections by 2034
Completed joint proposal for V2X-related budget project with four US state DOTs, Intel, etc. Following its Series A investment of 8 billion won, Etiforce announced the full-scale launch of its US business by obtaining approval for V2X frequency use from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Etiforce announced on the 20th that it has obtained approval from the Federal Communications Commission to use the 5.9 GHz V2X frequency band along with 10 other agencies and companies, including the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Continental, and Nissan.
In the United States, agencies and companies that commission business using the 5.9 GHz band, the dedicated V2X frequency, must obtain approval for use from the FCC.
Since the system was implemented in 2023, automakers such as Audi, Ford, and Nissan, V2X electric and equipment companies such as Continental, Samsung Harman, and 50 organizations and companies from Florida and Texas have obtained approval to use the 5.9 GHz band.
Last October, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced a plan to build V2X infrastructure on 260,000 kilometers of highways and 300,000 intersections with traffic lights by 2034.
As the US market growth begins in earnest, States, cities, and companies are lining up to apply for V2X-specific frequencies.
V2X is an essential communication technology for connected cars and autonomous driving at Level 4 or higher.
Major countries including the US, EU, China, and Korea are finalizing V2X communication policies and making full-scale investments in V2X infrastructure, and the V2X market is taking shape in earnest.
Etiforce is attracting attention from the industry by developing an SDM (Software Defined Modem) solution that implements the C-V2X method, which has been adopted as a national standard by China, the United States, and Korea, in software.
With the Etiphos SDM solution, road construction and operation organizations such as road authorities can upgrade from the current standard LTE-V2X to the latest standard 5G-V2X with only a software update, without replacing hardware, thereby drastically reducing the costs of infrastructure construction and maintenance.

“Etiforce’s acquisition of FCC V2X frequency use approval is significant in that it marks the full-scale launch of Etiforce’s U.S. business,” said Hong Seung-soo, Etiforce’s Chief Business Officer (CBO).“We have already completed a joint proposal with the Department of Transportation of four states and several local partners, including Intel, to win the V2X-related budget project allocated by the federal government,” the company said.
Meanwhile, Etiphos announced on the 17th that it had successfully attracted 8 billion won in Series A investment.
Large investment institutions such as LB Investment and Industrial Bank of Korea participated in this Series A investment, and the total investment amount may vary depending on the investment amount of additional participating VCs.
Hong Seung-soo, Managing Director of Etiforce, said that with the recently completed Series A investment of 8 billion won, the company plans to fully advance into the growing US market by securing a local business base in the US in 2024.
