Infineon Technologies is an official sponsor of the Intelligent Model Car Competition hosted by Hanyang University’s Automotive Electronics Control Lab. The 2019 Intelligent Model Car Competition will be held on Thursday, July 11 at Hanyang University’s Olympic Gymnasium, with approximately 50 universities, 100 teams, and 450 college students participating.

The participating college students used a board consisting of Infineon’s 32-bit multicore microcontroller unit (MCU) AURIX™ and motor drive IC to create a model car to participate in the competition by applying environmental perception, control algorithm design, and motor control technology. The competition is conducted by dividing all participating teams into two groups and having them complete the track, and then selecting the top 20 teams to compete in the finals.

The ranking of the teams participating in the main event will be determined not only by their driving records but also by the results of their missions, such as ‘Lane Keeping Control,’ ‘School Zone Driving,’ ‘Autonomous Emergency Braking,’ and ‘Obstacle Avoidance,’ which are future automobile technologies.

Infineon, the largest supplier in the Korean automotive semiconductor market, will continue to sponsor the Intelligent Model Car Competition to foster advanced technical personnel and ultimately contribute to enhancing the technological competitiveness of the Korean automobile industry,” he said.

The winning team of this year's Intelligent Model Car Competition will receive the Infineon Grand Prize worth 10 million won, and the teams receiving the Infineon Special Prize and ACE Lab Special Prize will have the opportunity to visit the Infineon Technologies headquarters in Munich, Germany to learn about eco-friendly and autonomous driving control technologies.
