Introducing new AI analysis techniques, building an illegal drug detection system
President Seung-chan Bang, “ETRI will become a nation-loved organization that takes responsibility for technological sovereignty”
The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) celebrated its 48th anniversary. This year's ETRI Researcher of the Year Award went to Dr. Hyungwook Noh, who introduced a new artificial intelligence analysis technique.
ETRI held a ceremony to commemorate its 48th anniversary in the main auditorium of Building 7 of the research center on the 5th, and presented awards such as the ETRI Researcher of the Year Award and encouraged the research achievements of its employees.
This year's ETRI Researcher of the Year Award went to Dr. Hyungwook Noh of the Digital Convergence Research Institute, who developed a 'multi-dimensional multi-modal olfactory intelligence technology that mimics the human olfactory receptor.'
Dr. Noh Hyung-wook successfully built an illegal drug detection system by introducing a new technique that analyzes the entire time series response signal pattern (Sensor Transient Response) throughout the entire gas exposure process of the sensor using artificial intelligence for the first time in the world.
In addition, we successfully developed an e-nose system with a world-leading accuracy of 93.03% by selecting the optimal sensor using an artificial intelligence-based automated process.
The National Research Council of Science and Technology (NST) Chairman’s Award, which is given to researchers who have contributed to the safety and convenience of the people through outstanding research achievements, was awarded to: Hyun-gon Chu, Director of the Realistic Media Research Lab at the Hyper-Realistic Metaverse Research Institute; Ji-young Park, Principal Researcher at the Hyper-Realistic Metaverse Research Institute; and Young-soo Cho, Director of the Mobility Navigation Research Lab at the Digital Convergence Research Institute.
In addition, the winners of the new employee award, which is given to employees who have been with the company for less than 3 years, also attracted attention.
△The honor of the award went to Senior Researcher Kim Hyeon-jin of the Artificial Intelligence Computing Research Institute, Senior Researcher Jo Byeong-ho of the Hyper-Realistic Metaverse Research Institute, Senior Researcher Kim Seon-hyeok of the Digital Convergence Research Institute, Senior Researcher Min Su-jin of the ICT Strategy Research Institute, and Administrative Officer Kim Seung-hoon of the Planning Headquarters.
In addition, in the technology transfer category of the Excellent Research Achievement Award, which rewards the best research achievements by research achievements, the 'Drone Identification System Design and Information Management Technology' of the Stereoscopic Communication Research Institute, which achieved the best technology transfer achievements last year, was honored with a group award.
Drone typeThe star system design and information management technology is expected to be utilized in drone identification devices, drone identification information management devices, and anti-drone integrated management services.
In the general paper category, Wonkyung Lee, a principal researcher at the Stereoscopic Communication Research Institute, was selected as the winner; in the excellent academic conference category, Youngwan Lee, a senior researcher at the Superintelligence and Creativity Research Institute, was selected as the winner; in the ETRI journal paper category, Seonghun Seo, a senior researcher at the Superintelligence and Creativity Research Institute, was selected as the winner; in the patent category, Youngjo Ko, a principal researcher at the Stereoscopic Communication Research Institute, was selected as the winner; and in the standardization category, Taesang Choi, a principal researcher at the Stereoscopic Communication Research Institute, was selected as the winner.
In addition, ETRI Daycare Center beautician Kim Myeong-suk received an award of merit in recognition of her efforts to contribute greatly to the stable development and welfare promotion of the daycare center with a strong sense of mission and responsibility since the opening of the ETRI Daycare Center.
ETRI President Seung-chan Bang said, “It is an urgent time to secure digital leadership through technological innovation as a growth engine. I will work harder with all executives and employees to take responsibility for technological sovereignty through the development of national strategic technologies and to become an ETRI loved by the public.”
Meanwhile, at the ceremony, Chairman Kim Bok-cheol of the National Research Council for Science and Technology and Mayor Lee Jang-woo of Daejeon Metropolitan City attended and encouraged the staff.
In addition, I attended the opening ceremony of the newly built ETRI History Museum on the second floor of the main building and shared the research achievements and footsteps of the past.
Afterwards, he visited the site where the 'Majungmul Plaza', a technological start-up base for the re-creation of Daedeok Innopolis, is planned to be built and shared his thoughts on the successful start of construction in the second half of the year.
