Samsung Electronics has revealed its ambition to build a powerful mobile AI ecosystem by applying Galaxy AI to various product lines and service areas.

Samsung Electronics MX Business Division President Noh Tae-moon published an article in the Samsung Newsroom on the 21st revealing his vision for the present and future of mobile AI for the first time since the launch of the Galaxy S24.

President Roh Tae-moon hinted that new innovative features are being prepared for the AI phone 'Galaxy S24 series' that was unveiled through Unpack last January. He emphasized that the protagonists of the mobile AI era are Galaxy 'users', and said that Galaxy AI will meaningfully change the daily lives of more users in the future.

Samsung Electronics has opened the era of mobile AI by installing Gemini Pro, a multimodal AI based on Google AI, in the Galaxy S24. The Galaxy S24 series is equipped with AI functions such as △real-time interpretation during calls △real-time translation of messages △circle to search △note assist △voice recording and translation △camera and gallery editing. Most of the functions are on-device AI and work offline as well. Some functions, such as search, are powered by cloud AI.

President Roh Tae-moon said that the most used Galaxy AI features since the launch of the new product include Circle to Search, real-time interpretation and chat assist, and photo assist based on the Provisual Engine.

Samsung Electronics announced plans to continue to apply and optimize Galaxy AI in various fields in the future to build a mobile AI ecosystem. For example, it explained that AI technology will be applied to Galaxy wearable products to create a new intelligent health experience.

In the contribution, President Noh Tae-moon emphasized, “Galaxy AI is just the beginning, and many new ideas and concepts conceived while developing the Galaxy S24 series will continue to be introduced as newer and more innovative functions as technology develops and becomes more advanced in the future.”

He also mentioned Samsung Electronics' philosophy for developing AI technology. "As the debate over AI accuracy, reliability, and intellectual property rights continues, companies should work together with an open mind and define AI experiences with a careful approach, so that users can enjoy AI experiences that they can trust and rely on," he said.

The importance of security and personal information management was also emphasized. Samsung Electronics said that a hybrid approach that combines on-device AI and cloud-based AI will ensure seamless usability while allowing users to use some functions on their own devices, thereby enabling a high level of data control. President Roh Tae-moon said, “We will continue to strengthen the security and personal information protection of Galaxy products through transparency and guaranteeing user choice.”
