The latest 8700F features a dedicated AI engine
AMD has unveiled a CPU with a dedicated AI engine instead of integrated graphics.
AMD announced on the 16th that it has launched the AMD Ryzen 7 8700F and AMD Ryzen 5 8400F processors, new models of the existing 8000G processor family without integrated graphics.
AMD Ryzen 8000F series processors are optimized for high efficiency with low power consumption and support the same one-click overclocking feature as existing Ryzen products.
In particular, the 8700F is equipped with an NPU that supports AI operations. Up to 16 TOPS of AI operations are possible through the dedicated AI engine, Ryzen AI.
Both products are built on TSMC's 4nm FinFET process and feature unlocked multipliers for overclocking. It is expected to be positioned on par with the Intel Core i5-14400F and 13400F.
The AMD Ryzen 7 8700F has 8 cores and 16 threads, a boost clock of up to 5.0GHz, 24MB of cache, a 65W TDP, and a MSRP of $269.
The AMD Ryzen 5 8400F has 6 cores and 12 threads, a boost clock of up to 4.7GHz, 22MB cache, 65W TDP, no NPU, and is launched with a suggested retail price of $169.
