AMD Market Cap Increases 100-fold in 10 Years Under Lisa Su Recently, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su was officially selected as 'CEO of the Year' by Time magazine.
Dr. Lisa Su was named CEO of the Year by TIME magazine this year, marking her 10th anniversary in office. Dr. Su was selected based on her leadership and AMD’s industry contributions to advancing the future of AI through end-to-end AI infrastructure, solutions, and an open ecosystem.
Dr. Lisa Su was born in Taiwan and raised in the United States. She earned three degrees, including a Ph.D. from MIT, and worked in engineering and leadership roles at IBM for 13 years before joining AMD in 2012.
Since taking over as AMD's CEO, AMD's market cap has grown from $2 billion to over $200 billion in just 10 years, making it one of the most valuable companies in the world.
CEO Lisa Su has strategically shifted the business to data center, enterprise solutions, and embedded markets, significantly growing AMD EPYC processor server revenue share from 1% to approximately 34%. AMD's products power 50 percent of supercomputers and 40 percent of energy-efficient supercomputers.
AMD has made a number of acquisitions to diversify and strengthen its portfolio, including Silo AI, Europe's largest AI research lab; ZT Systems, an AI infrastructure provider for hyperscalers; Pensando, a data center networking company; and Xilinx, an adaptive computing company.
R&D investment is growing aggressively, reaching $5.9 billion in 2023, a fivefold increase from a decade ago, with more than $1 billion invested in the past 12 months to strengthen the AI ecosystem and software.
