Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has introduced a new isolated gate driver IC ideal for traction inverters in cost-effective and high-performance xEV platforms rated to ASIL-B.
Infineon announced on the 10th that it is strengthening its EiceDRIVER™ product family by launching a new isolated gate driver IC for electric vehicles.
The newly launched devices are designed for the latest IGBT and SiC technologies and support Infineon’s HybridPACK™ Drive G2 Fusion module, the first plug-and-play power module that combines silicon and silicon carbide (SiC) technology.
Pre-configured 3rd generation EiceDRIVER products include the 1EDI302xAS for IGBT and the 1EDI303xAS for SiC/Fusion, which are AEC certified and ISO 26262 compliant.
It is an ideal solution for traction inverters in cost-effective and high-performance electric vehicle (xEV) platforms.
The 1EDI3025AS, 1EDI3026AS, and 1EDI3035AS devices provide a robust 20 A gate current output to drive high-performance inverters in all power classes up to 300 kW and above.
The 1EDI3028AS and 1EDI3038AS with gate current output of 15A areIt is suitable for inverters of rechargeable battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and excitation drive circuits of externally excited synchronous machines (EESMs).
These devices feature a novel soft-off feature, providing excellent short-circuit performance and supporting the latest SiC and IGBT technologies.
A variety of monitoring functions via integrated DESAT and overcurrent protection (OCP) improve system error handling, while new primary and secondary safety status interfaces enable various system safety concepts.
Additionally, a continuously sampling 12-bit delta-sigma ADC with integrated current source can read the voltage directly from a temperature sensing diode or NTC.
The gate drivers provide reinforced insulation according to VDE 0884-17:2021-10 and can be safely isolated according to standardized quality and production testing procedures.
The compact package (PG-DSO-20) and excellent compatibility with the latest power stage technologies enable customers to drive system integration and shorten design cycle times.
