Hilscher, a leading supplier of industrial communication and automation solutions, has expanded its Single-Pair Ethernet (SPE) technology portfolio and introduced a new evaluation board.

The newly released NXEB-90-SPE evaluation board is based on Hilscher’s multi-protocol controller netX 90 and provides users and developers with options to more efficiently develop and evaluate industrial applications using SPE.

The NXEB-90-SPE is equipped with an IEC-63171-6 SPE port and can be connected to PROFINET and EtherNet/IP networks based on the 10BASE-T1L standard as a single port device.

Additionally, this evaluation board provides various functions for user convenience.

Key features include a 10BASE-T1L analog front end with RXN/P and TXN/P headers for testing, 8 Mbytes of SDRAM and 4 Mbytes of SQI Flash memory, on-board debugging capabilities and support for an external JTAG adapter, eight user-defined inputs/outputs, and a UART interface over USB.

It also supports alternative boot and console mode selection functions to maximize development efficiency.

With this evaluation board, Hillscher is further enhancing its automation solutions by complementing the SPE media switch product presented at the previous SPS 2024.
/> The SPE media switch is designed based on netX 90 and allows seamless connection of PROFINET, Open Modbus/TCP and EtherNet/IP networks with SPE applications.

In particular, these devices can be easily implemented in the field at low cost, providing real benefits to customers.

With the launch of this evaluation board, Hilscher is opening up new possibilities for industrial communication technology and making it easier to apply SPE technology to a wide range of automation applications.
