AI education and research and development cloud 'Ellis Cloud' introduces Dell PowerEdge XE9680
Dell Technologies Korea (CEO Kyung-jin Kim) will supply Dell PowerEdge XE9680 servers to Ellis Group to help with AI education and research and development.
Dell announced on the 4th that it has supplied the 'Dell PowerEdge XE9680' server for high-performance AI workloads to the 'Ellis Cloud AI Data Center Construction Project' of Ellis Group, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based education solution company.
In addition, the two companies signed an MoU on 'mutual cooperation for building an AI data center' at the Dell Technologies Korea office in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul on the 3rd.
Ellis Group, an AI education solution company founded in 2015, provides customized digital transformation education solutions to approximately 1,800 major domestic corporations, universities, governments, and public institutions based on its own data center and SaaS (Software as a Service) technology capabilities.
'Ellis Cloud', operated by Ellis Group, is a cloud platform that provides computing resources such as GPUs in a simple and stable manner for AI education and research and development. Companies and organizations using Ellis Cloud can easily build AI education, competitions, solution construction, and research and development environments according to their unique requirements.br />
High-performance GPUs are essential for AI services, and Ellis Group has decided to advance Ellis Cloud based on the latest GPU servers to keep pace with the explosively growing demand for AI.
During this process, we reviewed various sustainability factors such as energy efficiency, floor space minimization, data sovereignty and governance for an eco-friendly data center, and upgraded the data center infrastructure by introducing Dell PowerEdge XE9680 servers and R750xa servers equipped with NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs, and Dell PowerSwitch networking switches.
Through collaboration with Dell Technologies, Ellis Group has applied the Portable Modular Data Center (PMDC) method, which enables flexible infrastructure expansion in modular units, to Ellis Cloud.
This minimizes idle infrastructure and maximizes utilization of computing resources such as GPUs.
In addition, it supports high power density of 20-40 kilowatts per rack, lowering the PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of the data center, and applies dynamic allocation technology that can efficiently utilize GPU and NPU, allowing users to allocate computing resources in real time as much as they need.
By reducing our floor space and lowering our power and operational costs, we have been able to expand our training courses related to AI and digital transformation and make them available to more people.
Ellis Group has become the first domestic AI courseware company to obtain the CSAP SaaS standard grade, while also meeting domestic and international security compliance requirements, thereby laying the foundation for entering the public SaaS market and plans to explore various business opportunities in the future.
In addition, the Korean Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) runs the secondary English and information course 'AI also participated as the lead organizer in the 'Digital Textbook Service Model and Prototype Development Research' project and carried out a development project.
The 'Dell PowerEdge XE9680' introduced by Ellis Group is an 8-GPU model for AI that can be equipped with the NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core or AMD Instinct accelerator, and support for the Intel Gaudi 3 AI accelerator will be added in the future.
It is suitable for HPC clusters used in large-scale natural language processing, recommendation engines, and neural network applications, as well as massive AI data sets, and provides optimal performance with an air-cooled design that improves airflow with Dell Smart Cooling technology that improves energy efficiency.
Ellis Group is expanding its business area by combining its educational practice platform ‘Ellis LXP’ and cloud infrastructure through collaboration with Dell.
As part of these efforts, Ellis Group launched the 'Ellis Cloud ML API' service based on Ellis Cloud in March of this year.
This is an on-demand service that allows you to easily deploy your own developed AI models. It is designed to detect sudden increases in service usage and automatically expand the server to continuously maintain the optimal user experience.
Ellis Group CTO Park Jeong-guk said, “We expect that this collaboration with Dell Technologies, which has proven technology and experience in data center infrastructure solutions, will allow us to operate an AI-only data center stably,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen Ellis’ AI infrastructure capabilities so that we can provide cloud-based AI education in an optimized environment for companies and institutions, including schools where AI digital textbooks will be introduced next year.”
Kim Kyung-jin Korea “Ellis Group is making a significant contribution to fostering digital talent and developing the edutech industry in line with the spread of AI technology,” said the CEO of Dell Technologies. “Dell Technologies plans to continue to provide optimal infrastructure solutions and full technical support so that it can participate in innovative cases such as Ellis Group.”
