As the development of cutting-edge industries accelerates, a shortage of technical talent is emerging worldwide. Accordingly, while each industry is putting its life on the line to develop its own talents, the domestic radio wave utilization sector is also putting its efforts into developing specialized personnel through mutual cooperation.
The Radio Promotion Association (hereinafter referred to as RAPA) Radio Broadcasting and Communications Education Center, Emco Electronics Co., Ltd., and Konkuk University's Next-Generation Wireless Power Center signed a business agreement for mutual cooperation in fostering professional manpower in the radio and ICT convergence industry on the 16th at the Haebeach Hotel in Jeju Island.
As interest in fostering excellent professional manpower in the radio and ICT convergence industries is increasing, this agreement was prepared to promote the fostering and utilization of professional manpower in six fields: △5G/6G △radio sensing △radio materials and components △smart drones △autonomous vehicles △energy transmission.
The three organizations announced that they will actively engage in exchanges to foster and utilize professional manpower in the radio and ICT convergence industries, including: △developing education and training programs; △jointly hosting technical education, seminars, and workshops; △continuous career growth to enhance the capabilities of employees; △cooperating in discovering and promoting best practices; and △exchanging information and mutual consultation.
RAPA Radio Broadcasting and Communication Education Center plans to open a 'training program to foster professionals who will lead the radio industry' starting in March, and invite excellent university professors such as Professor Park Young-cheol (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies), Professor Koo Hyeon-cheol (Konkuk University), and Professor Oh Jeong-seok (Seoul National University) to conduct 'lectures on electromagnetic field analysis and simulation practice.'
RAPA is an organization under the Ministry of Science and ICT that serves as a bridge between the industry and the government and establishes the foundation for the promotion of the radio broadcasting industry in accordance with the Radio Act. Recently, it has been focusing its capabilities on discovering projects for the dissemination of core radio broadcasting technologies and establishment of the foundation in the era of digital transformation.
In particular, the Radio Broadcasting and Communications Education Institute, an affiliated organization of the association, is an educational institution that trains key professionals to open the era of radio broadcasting and communications convergence accelerated by the 4th industrial revolution.middot; We are supporting the strengthening of the capabilities of employees at small and medium-sized venture companies and the employment of prospective employees through education in new digital transformation knowledge fields such as information and communication education and broadcasting media education, metaverse, virtual reality, and cloud.

Kim Gu-nyeon, the director of RAPA Radio, Broadcasting and Communications Education Institute, said, “Through this agreement, we expect that the 'Radio Utilization Industry Leading Specialist Training (Leader.kr)' program promoted by the institute will utilize the technological prowess of Emco Electronics Co., Ltd. and the excellent educational infrastructure of Konkuk University in the educational topics of radio material components, 5G/6G, and energy transmission, which will provide a great opportunity to foster excellent working professionals in the radio and ICT convergence industries.”
Software support is essential for training professional personnel in the radio utilization industry. Emco Electronics Co., Ltd. is an official distributor of Murata Manufacturing, a Japanese electronics company, and has recently been supporting not only Murata products but also Femtet, a CAE software currently under development by Murata Software, and is working to activate the radio technology and development education ecosystem.
Femtet is a finite element analysis-based CAE software that was first introduced to the domestic market by Emco Electronics Co., Ltd. in 2020. Femtet provides eight solvers in a single Basic package without separate purchase, and multi-physics analysis is possible between each solver. In terms of price, it is known to be a low cost burden as no separate maintenance costs are incurred.
Kim Chan-yong, CEO of Emco Electronics, said, “I hope that this agreement will provide an opportunity to widely publicize the excellence of Femtet, a CAE software, to domestic universities and companies,” and “I believe that through continuous communication with Konkuk University and the Radio Broadcasting and Communication Education Institute, we will be able to contribute greatly to the development of Korea’s radio material components and ICT convergence industries as well as the fostering of specialized human resources.”
Meanwhile, Konkuk University's Next-Generation Wireless Power Center is a special research institute established in 2004 at Konkuk University to research and develop next-generation technologies and related devices and component products that can transmit electric energy wirelessly. The Next-Generation Wireless Power Center is leading research in the fields of wireless power, wireless power transmission, and semiconductor and circuit design that extend these fields.
