SKT is using AI technology and telecommunications big data to strengthen the social safety net for socially isolated households.

SK Telecom, Geumcheon-gu Office, Seoul Welfare Foundation, Korea Electric Power Corporation, and Happy Connect announced on the 6th that they signed a business agreement to provide an AI-based integrated care service, ‘AI Care Service.’ SKT and Geumcheon-gu Office will provide the service to approximately 200 households from this month until the end of the year.

The 'AI Safety Service' was created to solve safety issues that may arise in socially isolated households. It is operated through analysis of communication big data, power usage, and sensing applications without installing separate devices in the target households.

If the subject is expected to experience an abnormal situation, such as no communication or electricity usage for a certain period of time, SKT's NUGU bizcall is used to check on the subject's well-being, and if necessary, field agents are dispatched in an emergency to ensure the subject's safety.

△Geumcheon-gu Office supports service evaluation along with selection of care targets, and △SKT is in charge of service operation and planning, and AI call data linkage. △Korea Electric Power Corporation is in charge of verifying and installing AMI capable of remote metering, and creating AI models related to power data, while △Happy Connect is in charge of providing control and dispatch services linked to app data. The Seoul Welfare Foundation is in charge of measures for care recipients after control results and dispatch, and plans to actively utilize this in the development of Seoul City’s lonely death prevention policy.

SKT plans to continuously develop solutions to enable data-based integrated control and operation by analyzing the effectiveness of services and enhancing solutions with the Seoul Welfare Foundation, thereby providing customized services for each target group.

Choi Nak-hoon, SK Telecom Industrial AIX CO manager, said, “We will do our best to take the lead in ESG management that contributes to the safety and health of the people by utilizing solutions based on AI and big data.”

Meanwhile, SKT has revealed its vision to lead AI innovation focusing on five major areas by utilizing the AI services and technologies it possesses. As part of this, it launched the AI animal image diagnosis assistance service 'X Caliber' in September last year.

In addition, it was announced on the 6th that they decided to promote 'X Camp,' a program to educate on proper X-ray photography techniques and radiation safety management in cooperation with the Korean Animal Hospital Association to provide X-ray imaging diagnostic examination training to veterinary hospital workers.
