12 technical session presentations in 4 categories and 2 tutorials
“Recently, there has been an increase in new product developments, and many EMC issues”
The Korea Electromagnetic Engineering Society's EMC KOREA 2024, which will provide insight into the latest EMC technology trends and future technology development directions, is scheduled to be held in Korea. Keynote speeches by prominent speakers in the EMC field are expected to share the latest EMC technology insights in cutting-edge industries.
The Korea Institute of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science's EMC Technology Research Committee (Chairman Jong-Hoon Kim) will hold EMC KOREA 2024 at the Specs Hall in the Munji Campus of KAIST in Daejeon on the 11th.
This year, EMC KOREA 2024 consists of technical sessions covering both the latest technologies and future new technologies.
There is one keynote presentation, 12 technical seminars, and two tutorial sessions. In particular, the keynote presentation is scheduled to be on ESD protection technology by Professor Daryl Beetner, director of the EMC Center at Missouri S&T, a renowned research institute in the field of EMC.
▲Last year, EMC KOREA 2023 was filled with visitors.
In the afternoon, sessions will be held in the following sectors: △Mobile & Consumer △Automotive & Power Electronics △Space & Aviation △Robot EMC & Standardization.
The Mobile & Consumer session will begin with a presentation on EMI reduction methods in mobile DRAMs by Kim Tae-ho, head of Samsung Electronics; EMC analysis solutions for next-generation electrical and electronic device development by Dr. Kim Ji-won of Taesung SNE; and research on signal transmission and noise characteristics of electronic brake systems by Ha Jeong-rae, head of Mando.
The Automotive & Power Electronics session will feature: △Trends in electromagnetic compatibility standards for autonomous vehicles by Wonjin Kim, CEO of Wongenuine; △RodeoSchwarz Dominic Tan's ADAS EMC technology trends △Lee Hee-hoon, head of Hyundai Motor Company, will discuss the EMC regulation principles and analysis techniques for high-voltage electric vehicle components.
The space & aviation sector will begin with a presentation on EMC standard design and tailoring for aerospace systems by Lim Seong-bin, head of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, followed by an introduction to EMC design and certification testing for satellite components by Kim Gyeong-su, vice president of KAI, and a presentation on EMC countermeasure design for power modules for aerospace electronic devices and future technologies by Ahn Byeong-jin, senior manager of iSpec.
Lastly, in the Robot EMC & Standardization session, there will be a presentation on the trends of robot IEC CISPR standardization and EMC technology standardization by Ahn Hyung-bae, a researcher at the National Radio Research Agency, an introduction to ISO TC299 (Robotics) and EMC trends in robot standards by Park Hong-seong, a professor at Kangwon National University, and an announcement on EMC testing and certification of industrial and service robots by Choi Soo-young, a senior researcher at Rainbow Robotics.
The tutorial session will be held in the morning with Professor Yoon Ik-jae of Chungnam National University as the moderator and Professor Kim Jin-guk of UNIST will teach about filtering, and in the afternoon with Professor Kim Ji-seong of KAIST as the moderator and Professor Park Hyeon-ho of Suwon University will teach about shielding.
Kim Jong-hoon, chairman of the EMC Technology Research Association, said, “As the number of newly developed electronic products by companies has increased recently, EMC certification issues have also increased,” and added, “I hope that we can develop more competitive products based on advanced EMC technology together with the EMC Technology Research Association.”
Meanwhile, the EMC Technology Research Group under the Korean Institute of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science (KIEES) is a specialized research group that has been involved since the establishment of the society. It is a research group that discusses and studies electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design and countermeasure technology, related material and component technology, and EMC standards that contribute to protecting the domestic radio environment and revitalizing the radio industry. It holds an EMC technology seminar every year under the name of EMC KOREA.
