Ericsson-LG, a global telecommunications equipment company, announced on the 19th that it successfully held 'Imagine Live Korea 2024'.

The event has been held annually since 2022 to provide industry insights and networking opportunities for telecommunications operators and enterprises.

The event, attended by over 300 industry professionals, featured the presentation of Ericsson ConsumerLab's report, 'Raising the bar for 5G with differentiated connectivity', as well as introduction of high-performance programmable network building methods such as AI-based RAN, intent-based RAN, and service-aware RAN.

In addition, various 5G solutions and use cases, such as virtual and augmented reality cases utilizing the EP5G 28㎓ band, were shared.

According to this Ericsson ConsumerLab report, generative AI applications are gaining traction among 5G smartphone users worldwide.

In particular, it emerged as an area that is increasing interest in 'differentiated connectivity', which guarantees high-quality connectivity without interruption, especially when it is needed most.

5G worldwide 35% of users are willing to pay extra for differentiated connectivity, and one in four current AI users said they would pay up to 35% more for differentiated connectivity that supports fast, responsive AI-based application performance.

In fact, South Korea's 5G users' satisfaction with 5G remains stable, but one in three users still experience 5G-related issues in crowded places.

This also presented insight that excellent 5G mid-band coverage is essential for differentiated connectivity.

Ericsson ConsumerLab sees this trend as an opportunity for global telecommunications operators to meet relevant demands through tailored connectivity experiences.
