Sony HMD and Siemens Xcelerator combine to create an immersive solution
Siemens unveiled innovative technologies that redefine reality by combining the real and digital worlds at CES 2024, the world's largest technology fair, on the 9th.
Siemens announced new partnerships to bring the industrial metaverse to life, as well as innovations in AI and immersive engineering. He also highlighted how these technologies are supporting the success of innovators around the world through Siemens Xcelerator, an open digital business platform.
“Siemens envisions the industrial metaverse as a virtual world that is nearly indistinguishable from reality, enabling people and AI to collaborate in real time to solve real-world challenges,” said Roland Busch, CEO of Siemens. “This will enable our customers to accelerate innovation, enhance sustainability and rapidly adopt new technologies at scale – all while driving profound change in entire industries and everyday life.”
“By making the Industrial Metaverse accessible to our customers, we are enabling them to solve real-world problems faster, more sustainably, and more efficiently,” said Cedrik Neike, Member of the Board of Managing Directors of Siemens AG and CEO Siemens Digital Industries. “We are also making the Industrial Metaverse accessible to companies of all sizes, enabling ideas to become world-changing innovations.”
■ Siemens-Sony Partner to Implement Immersive Engineering Siemens and Sony Corporation (hereafter, Sony) are partnering to introduce a new solution that combines Siemens’ Xcelerator industrial software portfolio with Sony’s new spatial content creation system.
Additionally, it supports intuitive interaction with 3D objects through the XR head-mounted display with a high-quality 4K OLED micro-display and controller. The new solution is expected to enable designers and engineers to create and explore design concepts in an immersive, unconstrained workspace, and to accelerate content creation for the industrial metaverse.
Scheduled for release in the second half of 2024, Siemens’ NX Immersive Designer is an integrated solution that combines Siemens’ NX software with Sony technology, bringing immersive design and collaborative product engineering capabilities to Siemens’ flagship product engineering solution.
“Sony is passionate about empowering creators with cutting-edge technologies, and we have already seen success in transforming workflows in spatial content creation using our proprietary motion and display technologies,” said Yoshinori Matsumoto, Sony Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Technology and Incubation, Sony Corporation. “We are excited to combine Unity’s technology with Siemens’ engineering expertise to realize more immersive engineering that redefines the everyday workflows of designers and engineers.”
He added that “realistic, high-quality rendering and intuitive interactivity will provide tools for a more immersive creative process, driving innovation in the industrial metaverse.”
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is also expected to strengthen its partnership with Siemens to help companies of all sizes and industries build and scale generative AI applications. Siemens is integrating the Mendix low-code platform, part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, with Amazon Bedrock, a service that provides a single API for selecting high-performance foundation models from leading AI companies, along with security, privacy, and responsible AI capabilities.
■ Transforming the way we live, work, play, and produce with Siemens Xcelerator At CES 2024, Siemens will highlight through its keynote and exhibit presentation how customers are using the Siemens Xcelerator open business platform to transform the way they live, work, play and produce.
As part of Siemens’ pursuit of innovation in everyday life, the company is unveiling its smart home energy management portfolio, Inhab, at CES. The Intelligent Habitat family of solutions gives users complete transparency and control over their energy supply sources and how they are distributed throughout their home at any given time.
△Real-time alerts △24/7 monitoring △Energy target setting and other features provide the transparency needed to make informed decisions. As more home appliances are electrified and electric vehicle charging and solar power installations are introduced into homes, accurate monitoring and management solutions will help reduce energy consumption and utility costs, and improve safety and capacity.
The Work innovation is driven by Siemens’ partnership with Sony to deliver the next generation industrial metaverse by combining cutting-edge innovations in Sony’s groundbreaking mixed reality hardware and immersive engineering software from Siemens’ Xcelerator open business platform. This new solution, announced in partnership with Red Bull Racing, demonstrates how immersing engineers into an industrial metaverse can free them from traditional constraints and help them merge the virtual and physical worlds.
Play, Siemens’ experience at CES, showcases how innovators are using the Siemens Xcelerator platform to change the way the world moves. Unlimited Tomorrow is changing people’s lives by designing affordable, customizable, and scalable prosthetic limbs and arms. And it’s working with customers to help make clean, safe transportation accessible to everyone, everywhere.
The change in how we make things can be seen in how Blendhub is using Siemens technology to solve food insecurity and transform food production. Blendhub is building and connecting a network of distributed food and personalized nutrition factories to supply ingredients and move them closer to end consumers, realizing a technology-driven approach to creating shared value in the global food system.
