ROHM Launches Four SOP Package General-Purpose AC-DC Controller ICs

기사입력2024.08.21 10:56

Equipped with high-precision low-voltage malfunction prevention function, compatible with a wide range of power transistors

ROHM has introduced a new AC-DC controller IC that supports a wide range of power transistors, from Si-MOSFETs to IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs, and features a high-precision, low-voltage malfunction prevention function.

ROHM announced on the 21st that it has developed a general-purpose controller IC with a PWM control method and external FET that is optimal for AC-DC power supplies for industrial equipment, and has started mass production of four types of products: 'BD28C55FJ-LB' for driving low-voltage MOSFETs, 'BD28C54FJ-LB' for driving medium/high-voltage MOSFETs, 'BD28C57LFJ-LB' for driving IGBTs, and 'BD28C57HFJ-LB' for driving SiC MOSFETs.

The new product has an input voltage range of 6.9 V to 28.0 V, a maximum circuit current of 2.0 mA, a maximum starting current of 75 μA, a maximum duty cycle of 50%, and adopts a standard SOP-J8 (JEDEC standard: SOIC8 equivalent) package.

It has the same pin arrangement as general-purpose products widely used in power supply units of industrial equipment applications, contributing to reducing man-hours when changing circuits or designing new ones.

All models are equipped with a self-recoverable undervoltage lock-out (UVLO) function with voltage hysteresis characteristics.

While the threshold voltage error of general products is about ±10%, the new products Because it is as small as ±5%, it realizes high-precision return start, contributing to improved application reliability.

In addition, as a long-term supply target product that can be supplied stably over a long period of time, it also contributes to the continuous operation of long-life industrial equipment applications.

The new product will begin mass production in July 2024 with a production capacity of 100,000 units per month (sample price: 180 yen/unit, excluding tax).

The production bases are ROHM Hamamatsu Co., Ltd. (Hamamatsu) for the front-end process and ROHM Electronics Philippines, Inc. (Philippines) for the back-end process.

Online sales have also begun, and products can be purchased from online parts distribution sites such as CoreStaff™ and Chip 1 Stop™.

In the future, we plan to sequentially add products that support high-voltage MOSFETs and GaN devices to our lineup, and we also plan to commercialize products that support up to 100% duty cycle.
