STM32C0 series launched, reducing the cost of CAN FD interface components
STMicroelectronics (ST) is making entry-level embedded development cheaper and simpler with the launch of new MCUs.
ST has launched its latest STM32C0 series of microcontrollers (MCUs) supporting electronic applications.
The new MCUs offer more memory, expanded interfaces, and communication capabilities such as CAN FD than existing products, giving designers unprecedented flexibility.
The newly added STM32C051, STM32C091, and STM32C092 support up to 64 Kbyte and 256 Kbyte of flash memory respectively, and the STM32C092 in particular features a CAN FD interface.
Designers can use CAN FD to reduce component costs and simplify hardware design.
“The STM32C0 series is a cost-effective MCU that delivers exceptional flexibility and rich peripherals,” said Patrick Adoun, General Manager, General Purpose MCU Division, STMicroelectronics. “Designers can develop a wider range of applications with higher memory density and interface options.”
The STM32C0 series includes crystal-free USB full-speed devices, the popular USART interface, timers, and ADCs.It has various convenient features.
Additionally, the on-chip clock and single power supply input reduce the number of external components, saving cost and simplifying PCB design.
The series provides developers with long-term support for the life cycle of industrial projects through ST's long-term supply assurance program.
It also provides functional safety that makes it easy to obtain product quality approvals such as IEC 61508.
The latest STM32C0 MCUs are in production now, priced at $0.426 for the STM32C051F8P6, $0.682 for the STM32C091FCP6, and $0.733 for the STM32C092FCP6 in 10,000-piece quantities.
