Samsung Electronics' high-definition 8K QLED display and the Wi-Fi 6E-supporting processor from MediaTek of Taiwan have been released as TVs, raising expectations that they will be able to stably provide 8K high-definition video, VR content, and high-spec games to global consumers.

MediaTek announced on the 7th that the 'Samsung 8K QLED Y21', an 8K QLED TV based on MediaTek's MT7921AU, has been released.

The MT7921AU featured in the 'Samsung 8K QLED Y21' supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 on a single, highly integrated platform.

At speeds of 1.2 Gbps, consumers can enjoy uninterrupted, smooth streaming of entertainment and gaming.

Wi-Fi 6E is designed to use the uncongested bandwidth in the 6 GHz spectrum and offers a number of benefits over previous Wi-Fi generations, including much faster multi-gigabit data throughput, lower latency, and advanced security and connection reliability features.

Recently, the proportion of large-capacity data such as 8K/4K high-definition video, VR content, and high-spec games that need to be processed on TVs and mobile devices has increased, and there is a demand for Wi-Fi 6E functions to be installed in processors for smart TVs.

Here Wi-Fi 6E is expected to emerge as a very useful technology in the TV industry.

He also noted, “By integrating advanced connectivity technologies, including Wi-Fi-6 support, into Samsung’s 8K TVs, we are advancing the premium smart TV segment globally.”

Meanwhile, MediaTek is a Wi-Fi specialist widely used in global products including mobile devices, audio solutions, PCs, digital TVs, Blu-ray players, IPTV set-top boxes, and webcams.
