Differentiate from competitors in project areas, and strengthen critical and complex areas
[Editor's Note] On the 26th, Katherine Dei Cas, Executive Vice President in charge of Merck's Delivery Systems & Services (DS&S) business, visited Korea to discuss additional investment in Korea. Through this investment in Korea, Merck aims to elevate its confidence in the future of the electronics industry and its business capabilities to a new level. Accordingly, our magazine interviewed Woo-Kyu Kim, Merck Korea's representative director, at the Merck production facility in Ansan, where Dei Cas visited, to hear about the investment in Korea.

■ I wonder what Merck DS&S's strengths are Merck has extensive expertise, particularly in the chemical and gas supply sectors, and is increasing customer satisfaction through projects.
I think Korea is in a good position when it comes to areas that require important and complex functions. We are also working hard to differentiate ourselves from our competitors in the project sector.
■ I would like to hear about Merck’s potential investment in Korea. Our customers have already reported on their expansion of production capacity over the next five to ten years. Merck is also constantly thinking about how to prepare supply capacity to meet customer demands.
■ I am curious about your outlook on the semiconductor industry in the future. We are currently going through a difficult situation. However, overall, I expect that the growth rate will not change in 10 or 20 years. Therefore, I think that if the surrounding economy improves, we will immediately return to growth.
