MathWorks, a leading developer of technical computing software, announced on the 20th that it is hosting the 'MATLAB AI Model Challenge' to model ideas that can innovatively improve real-world or industrial processes.

The competition will also accept models from other frameworks, such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, but they must be able to run and be hosted in MATLAB.

The contest judges, comprised of a team of MathWorks engineers, will evaluate the entries for this challenge based on the following criteria: △ Ideas for the topic and appropriateness of AI modeling, △ Technical capabilities of the entries, △ Creativity in using MATLAB and MathWorks tools, △ Number of downloads and ratings during the promotion period, and △ Number of models submitted.

The winners will be announced in February of next year, and one person (team) will be selected and awarded in each of the following categories: MathWorks Award (1 million won), Popularity Award (500,000 won), Rating Award (500,000 won), and Prolific Award (500,000 won). If two or more individuals or teams have the same number of entries, the entries will be re-evaluated and selected in order of importance based on the judging criteria.

“Many developers are developing AI systems efficiently by utilizing various codes published in the MATLAB community,” said Jongmin Lee, CEO of MathWorks Korea. “Through this competition, I hope that participants will have the opportunity to share creative and practical ideas that can change the world and develop their own projects.”

Applications for participation are available until 6:00 PM on September 30th on the MathWorks Korea website (https://kr.mathworks.com/campaigns/products/matlab-ai-model-challenge.html).

Participants must publish their AI application and model code to the MATLAB user community, File Exchange, by 6 p.m. on November 15. Model downloads and star ratings will be counted through December.
