Providing integrated UPS and ultracapacitor solutions suitable for data centers
Vertiv Korea joins hands with LS Materials for data center energy solutions.
Vertiv announced on the 4th that it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with LS Materials, a leader in domestic ultracapacitor (UC) battery technology, to expand its technological edge in the data center UPS (uninterruptible power supply) market.
This agreement is expected to be an important milestone in introducing the innovative ultracapacitor battery concept to the high-density data center market of the current AI era, just as it presented a new direction to the global data center market by introducing lithium-ion batteries to domestic data centers about 10 years ago.
With over 60 years of experience in the global data center industry, Vertiv has been recognized for its technological excellence in UPS and thermal management solutions.
Through this agreement, Vertiv will integrate LS Materials’ ultracapacitor battery technology into the Vertiv UPS system to meet customers’ diverse battery backup time requirements, technical stability, and concerns about environmentally friendly products.
Ultracapacitor batteries have the characteristics of fast charging and discharging speeds, long life, and stable performance even in extreme temperatures, making them the optimal solution for data centers that require relatively short battery backup times for high-density HPC servers and AI-based high-load requirements. It is rated as Sean.
Based on their experience in successfully completing domestic and international projects, the two companies will provide integrated UPS and ultracapacitor solutions suited to the new requirements of data centers, helping customers achieve higher power efficiency, reduced operating costs, and long-term environmental sustainability.
“This partnership will help overcome the many challenges posed by current lithium-ion batteries, set a new standard for battery solutions in the data center market, and serve as an important opportunity for sustainable growth and global market expansion for domestic companies,” said Kim Sung-yeop, CEO of Vertiv Korea.
Through this partnership, Vertiv expects to further strengthen its technology leadership in the data center market, maximize data center efficiency and stability, and provide differentiated value to customers. In the future, Vertiv Korea and LS Materials plan to establish a technology innovation collaboration model that will lead the future of data center UPS and battery solutions, and strengthen its position in the global market based on the domestic data center market.
