Sponsorship of the 2024 Korea Automotive Engineering Society College Student Self-made Car Contest
Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, a global leader in digital reality solutions combining sensors, software, and autonomous technologies, has sponsored KSAE for the eighth consecutive year, providing participants with Adams/Car licenses and training, contributing to the development of future automotive talent.
Hexagon participated as a sponsor in the '2024 KSAE College Student Self-Made Car Competition' hosted by the Korea Society of Automotive Engineers (KSAE) and the Korea Automobile Research Institute (KATECH), held at Gunsan Saemangeum Racecourse from the 27th to the 29th.
Hexagon sponsored Adams/Car licenses to six out of seven winning teams, including the 'KOOKMIN RACING KEF-24' team from Kookmin University's College of Automotive Convergence, which won first place in the Formula category of this competition (Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award), and supported a 15-hour regular training program to help them effectively utilize the solution.
Adams, Hexagon's dynamic simulation solution, supports the efficient development of vehicle dynamic models through Adams/Car, a multibody dynamic analysis software. The solution can analyze and predict the dynamic behavior of a vehicle in a virtual environment before building an actual prototype, helping to significantly reduce time and cost.
The KOOKMIN RACING KEF-24 team used Adams/Car to solve the problems of the previous year’s vehicle and secure high dynamic performance. In particular, this year, they were able to learn various functions and usage methods through the basic and advanced Adams/Car training provided by Hexagon, and were able to reflect this in their design.
Park No-eul, project manager of KOOKMIN RACING KEF-24 team, said, “At a time when simulation has become important, we were able to gain practical experience in predicted performance development and R&H performance through Hexagon’s continuous support, and based on this, we were able to develop a vehicle that achieved excellent results in this competition.”
“We are pleased to be able to provide Hexagon’s solutions to foster talent who will play a key role in the development of the domestic future automobile industry,” said Brian Sung, CEO of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence Korea. “We will continue to expand industry-academic cooperation through close collaboration with Hexagon’s domestic educational institutions to actively support students so that they can realize innovative ideas and grow into future automobile talents with world-class technical skills.”
Meanwhile, the formula section of the 2024 KSAE College Self-Made Car Competition involved approximately 1,500 college students from 42 universities across the country, competing in acceleration races, skid pad races, autocross-gymkhana races, and endurance races on paved roads.
