LG Electronics has introduced an innovative technology that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to predict product quality from the design stage and drastically shorten the development period.
LG Electronics announced on the 27th that it has developed AI technology that uses AI to shorten the quality prediction time for finished products by up to 99% compared to before.
This technology has also succeeded in drastically reducing the AI learning time and memory usage required during the analysis process, which is expected to greatly improve the efficiency and accuracy of product development.
In the past, it took about 3 to 8 hours each time to predict quality before producing a prototype, but the new AI technology developed by LG Electronics shortened this time to less than 3 minutes.
Additionally, this technology operates based on a deep learning algorithm, reducing learning time by more than 95% compared to existing methods, reducing memory usage to 1/10, and increasing accuracy by more than 15%.
Another strength is that it provides quality prediction results in a 3D form close to the actual product, allowing developers to review them intuitively.
LG Electronics is preparing a web-based service platform, ‘Eng.AI (Engineering AI),’ to increase the practicality of this technology.
The platform allows you to input 3D drawing information during the product development process. Provides fast and accurate quality prediction results without additional processes.
Additionally, by applying data compression and lightweight technology, detailed information can be analyzed quickly.
This technology will be primarily used to strengthen LG Electronics' manufacturing capabilities.
It is planned to be sequentially applied to the development of various products, including home appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines, TVs, and vehicle parts design.
In addition, it is expected that LG Electronics' competitiveness will be further enhanced by actively utilizing it in the smart factory solution business.
This year, LG Electronics' external orders for smart factory solutions are expected to reach KRW 400 billion, an increase of more than 30% over the previous year.
LG Electronics is providing a differentiated smart factory solution by combining AI and DX (digital transformation) with the vast manufacturing data and know-how accumulated over 67 years and the world's best production element technology.
Based on these technological capabilities, the company plans to expand its customer base to various industries such as semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals, and grow its external sales to over tens of trillions by 2030.
