Pergola and Cabana product line with thread-based mater connection technology launched in the US

The StruXure+ family of pergolas and cabana products featuring thread-based mater-connection technology are now available in the U.S., giving users the convenience of setting up, controlling and customizing their pergolas with just a single smartphone app.
Recently, luxury pergola manufacturer StruXure has introduced the first US-based range of smart pergolas and cabana products to feature Matter over Thread technology, powered by the nRF5340 SoC from Nordic Semiconductor, a global leader in wireless connectivity solutions.
A pergola is a Western-style pavilion, path, or decorative and awning structure built into a garden to allow climbing plants to climb up.
The StruXure+ series provides users with the convenience of setting up, controlling and customizing their pergola using just one smartphone app.
Structure worked with technology specialist DornerWorks to develop Thread-based Matter end nodes and a custom Border Router to control a variety of devices, including lights, motorized louvers, fans and heaters.
This innovative connectivity system is based on Nordic’s multiprotocol SoC, the nRF5340. is supported by.
The nRF5340 SoC enables users to control compatible smart home devices simply via their smartphone.
“The new outdoor pergola series is designed to maximize user convenience and allow full smartphone control of all functions,” said Nate Bowen, Structure’s technical product manager. “By providing a common connectivity framework, Matter will make it easier to connect new types of devices in the future.”
The nRF5340 SoC introduced in this product family is comprised of advanced technologies that deliver outstanding performance and reliability. It includes a high-performance application processor based on dual Arm® Cortex®-M33 processors with DSP, floating point processing, 1 MB Flash, and 512 KB RAM. It also supports an ultra-low-power network processor with 256 KB Flash and 64 KB RAM.
“The reliability of Nordic’s nRF5340 SoC and its development platform, the nRF Connect SDK, were key factors in the success of the project,” says Michael Cotter, Engineering Director at Donnerworks. “The Zephyr RTOS and Matter framework were a great help in developing the application code and device drivers.”
He added, “Nordic’s extensive technical resources and enthusiastic technical support have been a great help in our development process.”
