Joining the DECT NR+ Strategic Collaboration Group

Nordic Semiconductor, a global leader in wireless connectivity solutions, is working with leading global smart building technology companies to support wireless connectivity that ensures superior resilience and interoperability.
Nordic has announced that it has joined a strategic group of smart building technology companies to support wireless connectivity that ensures superior resilience and interoperability in buildings using the DECT NR+ technology standard.
The group includes leading smart building technology companies Legrand, Schneider Electric and Siemens Smart Infrastructure; wireless industry experts Nordic Semiconductor, Last Mile Semiconductor, Wirepas and DSR Corporation; and embedded security specialist Kudelski IoT.
NR+ is the world’s first non-cellular 5G and an IoT connectivity standard designed to enable massively scalable, long-range, high-density device networks in the most challenging environments.
This technology is a license-free specificationIt provides excellent resilience and reliable low-power communications through TRUMP.
Additionally, it can support devices through a distributed mesh network with self-healing capabilities without relying on a central infrastructure, providing superior flexibility across industries, while significantly reducing operating costs and extending network life.
“NR+ is ideal for smart buildings because it can enable large-scale, reliable, low-cost networks supporting a high density of connected devices,” says Kristian Sæther, product director for Nordic Semiconductor’s Long Range Wireless segment and DECT Forum board member. “We are pleased to bring Nordic’s expertise to this strategic group of partners working on NR+ technology to overcome the limitations of existing building management systems.”
The NR+ Collaboration Group works with hardware and software vendors, as well as smart building standards bodies, to drive regulatory adoption and ensure that NR+ technology becomes the leading standard in smart buildings.
The group also aims to support new levels of digital innovation for building owners, operators and system integrators through technological advancements that meet the needs of the smart building industry.
Meanwhile, Nordic Semiconductor will be presenting a live demo of an NR+ network supporting large-scale autonomous smart grid applications at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain (Booth #7G21, Hall 7), Embedded World in Nuremberg (Booth #4A-310), and Distributech in Dallas, Texas (Booth #4926).
