Lee Auto Adopts Onsemi EliteSiC 1200V Bare Die for Next-Generation 800V Battery Electric Vehicles
Onsemi 8MP sensor improves intelligent detection capabilities… Safer ADAS and autonomous driving possible Li-Otto is adopting ON Semiconductor’s high-efficiency Elite Silicon Carbide (EliteSiC) 1200V bare die for its next-generation 800V battery electric vehicle (BEV) and will also expand the integration of ON Semiconductor’s 8MP high-performance image sensors in future models.
The two companies announced on the 10th that they have extended their supply contract with the goal of leading the next-generation smart electric vehicle market.
Onsemi EliteSiC 1200V products enable higher efficiency and lighter designs, extending driving range and accelerating charging speeds.
This allows for bare die adjustments to fit a variety of sizes and layouts, facilitating custom packaging during the development process and integration into power modules for specific applications.
Additionally, Li-Otto has been using OnSemi’s proven 8MP sensor in its Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) models to date.
This sensor improves intelligent detection capabilities for greater safety. It enables ADAS and autonomous driving of level 3 or higher.
“With our goal of developing both EREV and BEV simultaneously by 2025, establishing a stable and reliable SiC supply chain is critical during the transition to 800V,” said Lee Otto. “ON Semiconductor’s vertically integrated end-to-end SiC supply chain, complete control of the SiC manufacturing process and scalable capacity enable us to provide the latest technology in the long term, ensuring high quality and reliability of our products.”
“Our long-term collaboration and proven success integrating ON Semi’s sensors into our existing EREV models has solidified our confidence in ON Semi. We are now extending this long-term agreement to adopt EliteSiC products and continue to integrate 8MP sensors into our next-generation models,” he added.
“With ON Semi’s high-performance automotive qualified products, innovative technologies and reliable application support, ON Semi and Lee Auto will work together to lead the development of smarter electric vehicles,” said David Chow, SVP of Sales, Asia Pacific, ON Semi.
