TSC Technology Excellent thermal performance, easy assembly, low system cost
The SiC solution from Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Seung-Soo Lee), a global semiconductor company, is expected to expand the electric vehicle charging component market as it is adopted by automotive parts company FORVIA HELLA for its next-generation charging solution.
Infineon announced on the 4th that its CoolSiC™ Automotive MOSFET 1200V was recently adopted for Phobia Hella's next-generation 800V DCDC charging solution.
The device is designed for onboard charger and DCDC applications in 800 V automotive architectures and is available in the Q-DPAK package.
It provides excellent thermal performance, easy assembly, and low system cost by using TSC (Top-Side Cooling) technology.
Infineon's CoolSiC automotive MOSFETs 1200 V are based on Gen1p technology and offer an operating voltage range of VGS(off) = 0 V and VGS(on) = 2 V.
0V turn-off enables unipolar gate control, simplifying design by reducing component count on the PCB.
With a creepage distance of 4.8 mm, this package achieves operating voltages exceeding 900 V without additional insulating coating.
Compared to backside cooling, TSC technology ensures optimized PCB assembly, reducing parasitic effects and leakage inductance.Significantly reduces .
As a result, customers benefit from lower package parasitics and lower switching losses.
Heat dissipation performance has also been further improved by diffusion soldering the chip using XT technology.
“We are pleased to continue our partnership with Phobia Hella by leveraging our high-efficiency SiC products in the TSC package,” said Robert Herrmann, Vice President and General Manager Automotive High Voltage Chips and Discretes at Infineon. “Infineon continuously strives to drive e-mobility to the next level by delivering cutting-edge SiC solutions that meet the stringent requirements of the automotive industry for performance, quality and system cost.”
“Our customers are at the center of our efforts, which is why we chose Infineon’s CoolSiC automotive MOSFETs 1200 V for our next-generation DCDC converters,” said Guido Schütte, Member of the Executive Board Electronics Division at Phobia Hella. “Together with Infineon, we will continue to deliver sustainable and innovative products and comprehensive services that exceed our customers’ expectations and drive the development of advanced mobility.”
