Latest RDNA 4 architecture gaming GPUs revealed
“Popular GPUs are under $700, a key goal”
AMD officially announced the new Radeon RX 9070 series GPUs, which will be released on the 28th.
The Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, which will be released on the 6th, are designed based on the next-generation architecture, RDNA 4. The RDNA 4 chips are manufactured using the latest 4nm process, and are known to provide improved hardware performance than the previous generation.
RDNA 4, which is the basis of the next-generation GPU, is AMD's new generation architecture and is said to be approximately 40% faster overall than the previous generation RDNA 3. Performance has been improved across the board by applying 3rd generation RT and 2nd generation AI accelerators.
AMD announced that this year marks the 25th anniversary of Radeon and has unveiled its latest PC gaming-focused GPUs that echo AMD's long-standing gaming DNA.
AMD said that the RX 9070 series meets the increasingly demanding resolution specifications in line with the trend toward high refresh rate games at 1440p and 4K, and has tried to raise the bar for gamers with the increasing hardware requirements, such as new game engines and game technologies.
In terms of specifications, the RX 9070 is equipped with △56 RDNA 4 compute units △56 RT (Raytracing) accelerators △112 AI accelerators △Up to 1165 TOPS of AI performance △2.56 GHz boost clock △16 GB video memory △220 W total board power (TBP) △PCIe 5.0 interface, and it was explained that the 4K gaming performance is improved by 38% and 26% compared to the previous generation products (RX 6800 XT and RTX 3080), respectively.
The RX 9070XT has higher specifications than this, including △64 RDNA 4 compute units △64 RT accelerators △128 AI accelerators △AI performance of up to 1557 TOPS △2.97GHz boost clock △16GB video memory △304W total board power (TBP) △PCIe 5.0 interface, etc.
“The most popular graphics cards used by PC gamers today are those priced under $700,” an AMD representative said. “This is a key goal that AMD has been trying to address.” The RX 9070 series is expected to be priced somewhere in the middle, above the RX 7900RE ($549) and below the RX 7900XT ($899).
According to rumors that claim to be leaked information, the RX 9070 will be priced at $649, and the RX 9070 XT will be priced at $699, which is in line with AMD's pricing policy, and attention is focused on the official launch prices that will be announced in the future.
