IAR Launches Cloud-Based Scalable Embedded Development Platform
IAR provides developers with a flexible development environment and performance optimization through the introduction of a cloud environment that supports continuous integration and deployment of embedded development software.
IAR today announced the launch of a new cloud-based platform that provides development teams with enterprise-grade scalability, security, and automation capabilities, and plays a key role in integrating modern DevSecOps workflows into embedded software development.
This new product was first unveiled at Embedded World 2025 in Nuremberg, Germany, and actively adopts the latest cloud environment and DevOps processes to realize CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous deployment).
As embedded systems become more sophisticated, the demand for flexible development environments and automated workflows is increasing. Previously, it was difficult to effectively operate CI/CD pipelines due to rigid licensing models and complex build environments.
IAR’s new cloud-based platform addresses these challenges by offering a capacity-based licensing model that enables dynamic resource allocation and automatic build scaling. Additionally, the platform is not tied to a specific architecture or hardware device and supports more than 20 architectures including Arm, RISC-V, Renesas RX and RL78, and Microchip AVR.
The new platform integrates seamlessly with Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub, and GitLab, enabling you to leverage the same DevOps tools used to develop cloud-based applications.
It also supports Ubuntu, Red Hat, and Windows, and is compatible with Docker containers, virtual machines (VMs), and self-hosted runners. In particular, it provides automated build acceleration functions to shorten compilation times, reduce infrastructure costs, and optimize performance.
Security issues in embedded systems are becoming increasingly complex due to firmware vulnerabilities, supply chain risks, and regulatory compliance. Accordingly, IAR applies an end-to-end security approach to ensure IP protection, certification, and regulatory compliance from development through deployment.
It includes a pre-certified functional safety toolchain that complies with international regulations such as ISO 26262 (automotive), IEC 61508 (industrial), and IEC 62304 (medical), and also provides security tools for code authentication, integrity verification, and secure boot. It also provides IAR C-STAT static code analysis capabilities for vulnerability detection and coding standard compliance, and includes firmware update protection and security solutions for connected devices.
The platform provides a scalable development environment that combines cloud-based licensing, CI/CD integration, and functional safety. It offers flexible deployment across on-prem and hybrid environments, and its subscription model allows enterprises to scale their workflows more efficiently.
