SKT will participate in the International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition and demonstrate technologies developed to contribute to improving naval combat capabilities.

SKT announced on the 7th that it will participate in the International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX 2023) held at BEXCO in Busan for three days from June 7th to 9th.

SKT will exhibit a smart wireless network system currently being applied to naval vessels and land-based aircraft bases, including a time-division transmission/reception TDD-LTE system, dedicated terminals, and IoT services.

Since 2019, SKT has been building a TDD-LTE-based smart wireless network system in the 'Smart Battleship' together with the Navy. It is supporting the implementation of smart battleships by operating smart terminals, smart watches, and IoT services.

At this exhibition, SKT will demonstrate the smart ship wireless network that the Navy is aiming for and will actively participate in the implementation of future smart combat ships. The plan is to expand the business area by introducing the smart ship wireless network system to domestic defense companies and foreign naval officials.

SKT said, “The TDD-LTE system applied to naval vessels uses military-only frequencies, so it has excellent security and can provide broadband communication coverage essential for various operations.”

The Navy can use smart terminals and watches issued to the command center and soldiers on ships to provide real-time communication services and send text messages when conducting operations at sea. It also supports efficient work performance on ships by utilizing IoT services.

Meanwhile, MADEX 2023, co-hosted by the Republic of Korea Navy and Busan Metropolitan City for the 13th time this year, is an exhibition that showcases the latest ships, submarines, and maritime defense systems that combine cutting-edge technologies such as communication technology and new materials, as well as basic technologies such as communication and security.
