Jointly Establishing a New Industry Promotion Belt for Northwest Aerospace Radiocommunications
Collaboration expected in training professional manpower and developing virtual training content
In order to develop next-generation space and aviation industries such as urban air mobility (UAM) and low-orbit satellite communications, convergence with the radio field, which is the basic technology, is essential. The Korea Radio Promotion Association has strengthened joint cooperation to revitalize the aerospace radio communications industry.
The Korea Radio Promotion Association (hereinafter referred to as RAPA) signed a business agreement with Korea Aerospace University to promote the aerospace radiocommunications industry on the 13th at Korea Aerospace University in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.
This agreement was prepared to support new industries in the aerospace radiocommunications sector, such as ▲jointly building a new northwestern aerospace radiocommunications industry promotion belt, ▲developing professional human resources training and education programs, and ▲future air mobility (UAM/AAM).
RAPA and Korea Aerospace University plan to strengthen their joint cooperation in creating a new industry fostering belt for aerospace radio communications in the northwest connecting the Songdo IoT Technology Support Center, and are expected to join forces to promote related projects.
In addition, RAPA is actively promoting a professional human resources training program led by its affiliated Radio and Broadcasting Communication Education Center. Accordingly, we have broadly established a cooperative ecosystem with various universities with specialized technical capabilities, including Korea Aerospace University, ICT Polytechnic, Konkuk University, and Korea Polytechnic University.
The recent industrial trend is that large and medium-sized companies are taking the lead in fostering cutting-edge human resources to enhance competitiveness. To this end, the Radio and Broadcasting Communication Education Center supports the strengthening of technical capabilities of employees and prospective employees by organizing a curriculum and operating programs that reflect the needs of companies regarding technologies required in the field and in practice, as well as cutting-edge technologies in the rapidly changing industry.
Through this collaboration with Korea Aerospace University, the expertise of projects being developed and operated by the RAPA Radio and Broadcasting Education Center, such as training of professional personnel such as the Digital Leading Company Academy and development of educational VR training content, is expected to be further strengthened.
Song Jeong-soo, Vice Chairman of the Korea Radio Promotion Association, said, “Through this business agreement with Korea Aerospace University, we can join forces to create a new industry cluster connecting RAPA’s Songdo IoT Technology Support Center and the university, and it has become the foundation for revitalizing the aerospace radio communication industry.” He added, “We look forward to various collaborations in RAPA’s promoted areas such as ▲training professional manpower ▲developing virtual training education content ▲creating a safe radio environment for future aviation mobility ▲revitalizing the low-orbit satellite communication industry.”
President Heo Hee-young of Korea Aerospace University said, “We expect that this MOU with the Korea Radio Promotion Association will help foster specialized talents and develop core technologies in aerospace radio communications, one of our university’s specialized fields,” adding, “By joining forces with the two organizations to create a new industry cluster, we will contribute to the development of the domestic aerospace radio communications industry.”
Meanwhile, RAPA is an organization under the Ministry of Science and ICT that serves as a bridge between the industry and the government and establishes the foundation for the promotion of the radio broadcasting industry in accordance with the Radio Act. Recently, in the era of digital transformation, it is focusing its capabilities on discovering various projects for the dissemination of core radio broadcasting technologies and establishment of the foundation.
