SK Telecom operates a reservation system for its SIM card replacement service and prepares for any confusion that may arise when customers visit stores due to a shortage of SIM card replacement supplies.
Since becoming aware of the cyberattack caused by malware on the 18th, SKT has been making every effort to prevent damage to customers and alleviate concerns about personal information security.
To this end, free SIM card replacement will be available for customers who wish to do so at approximately 2,600 T World stores nationwide starting at 10:00 AM on the 28th.
The target is mobile communication customers who are subscribed to SK Telecom before 24:00 on April 18, 2025.
As many customers have recently shown a high level of interest in personal information security, if a large number of customers flock to the store at once on the first day of the replacement service, it is expected that there will be significant inconvenience on site.
Accordingly, SK Telecom will operate a ‘Free SIM Card Replacement Reservation System’ starting on the 28th to resolve customer inconvenience.
The 'Free SIM Card Replacement Reservation System' can be accessed through the webpage address (care.tworld.co.kr), a search portal site, or the initial screen banner on the T World homepage. You can apply by verifying your identity and selecting the store you wish to exchange to.
Identity verification for application is possible through mobile phone identity verification, and is carried out by verifying name, first part of resident registration number, security code number (CAPTCHA), and customer phone number.
This is expected to increase the accuracy of personal verification and save time when visiting selected stores. At the site, a new SIM card will be delivered to the actual SIM card subscriber by comparing the ID and reservation confirmation text.
You can select the store you wish to replace by searching for the store name or address on the application page, and if you select filtering, you can also search for stores that are currently available. In addition, when searching for a store, the location, business hours, and contact information of the store are provided, so you can easily find the store you want.
When the reservation request is completed, a reservation confirmation text message will be sent to the number of the store you requested to visit, and a separate text message with the visit date, store name, and store address will be sent. The replacement date text message will be notified in the order of reservation.
When the free SIM card replacement service is first implemented, inconveniences such as long waiting times are expected if many customers visit each store. Customers can reduce inconveniences by applying for reservations in advance through the 'Free SIM Card Replacement Reservation System', as they can easily apply without having to visit the store.
The 'Free SIM Card Replacement Reservation System' waiting screen is also linked to the 'SIM Protection Service' subscription link, which is essential for preventing illegal SIM card duplication crimes, allowing customers who have not yet subscribed to conveniently connect to the application page.
SKT has also provided a function to apply for all of the lines owned by the customer at once for customers who own multiple lines. Multi-line customers can easily replace their own SIM cards on smartphones, tablets, watches, etc. with a single application through the system.
