Joint development of AI-based lithium battery online diagnostic technology
SKT has joined hands with the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation (KESCO) to develop technology to prevent electrical fires in AI-based communication infrastructure.
SK Telecom, SK Broadband, and 12 other SKT ICT family members and the Korea Electric Safety Corporation (KESCO) announced on the 23rd that they signed a business agreement to ‘improve electrical safety of communications infrastructure.’
With this agreement, SKT and KESCO will promote the safe operation of telecommunications electrical equipment, support equipment inspections to prevent electrical fires, and jointly develop related technologies.
The two sides will exchange information and technology related to telecommunications facilities and cooperate in improving electrical safety systems. The two companies plan to jointly develop AI-based online lithium battery diagnosis technology and jointly develop precision diagnosis and fire prevention solutions for lithium batteries installed in approximately 500 SKT communication offices nationwide in preparation for emergencies such as power outages.
At the event, SKT CSPO President Kang Jong-ryeol and KESCO President Park Ji-hyun shared the importance of communications infrastructure and agreed to cooperate in the areas of technical support to ensure electrical safety and research and education to strengthen the safety capabilities of telecommunications facilities.
Through business cooperation, the two sides have conducted a detailed safety diagnosis of the batteries of Seoul subway base stations, and are the first telecommunications company to receive mobile notifications of the building electrical inspection schedule for approximately 41,000 SKT and SK Broadband telecommunications facility buildings nationwide, in preparation for temporary power outages due to inspections.
SKT CSPO (Chief Safety and Health Officer) President Kang Jong-ryeol said, “Through this business agreement, we have established the foundation for stable operation of power facilities to provide the best communication services, and we will take the lead in electrical safety by developing and establishing AI-based electrical facility solutions in the future.”
