LG Uplus Forms Employee Observation Group to Explore AI Market
The three domestic mobile carriers will explore new markets based on AI innovation technology at MWC2024.
SKT and KT will exhibit future technologies based on AI innovation at the 'MWC 2024 (Mobile World Congress 2024)', which opens in Barcelona, Spain on the 26th. LG Uplus will participate by forming a delegation to explore AI trends.
Hosted by the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association), MWC2024 is expected to see the participation of approximately 2,400 companies from 200 countries this year, showcasing various new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), 6G, IoT, and robots. It will be held for four days from the 26th to the 29th under the theme of 'Future First'.
■ SKT, Telco AI Expansion Promotion SKT will introduce AI innovation technologies in various communication services, network infrastructure, and real-life areas, and expand SKT's AI landscape to the global stage through cooperation with big tech companies, including the Global Telco AI Alliance (GTAA), an alliance among global telecommunications companies.
SKT will set up a large exhibition hall of approximately 300 pyeong in the center of Hall 3 of 'Fira Gran Via'. With the theme of 'AI, the beginning of a new change and a turning point', the key word is 'Telco LLM (Large Language Model)', which specializes in the telecommunications business.
SKT plans to introduce various application cases based on Telco LLM, including △virtual agent with chatbot implementation, △AI-based spam and smishing filtering system, and △AI call center (AICC). In addition, it plans to present a plan to strengthen the functions of the existing △AI-based indoor/outdoor floating population data analysis system 'Litmus Plus' and △'AI Quantum Camera' that is applied in various fields such as robots, security, and medicine.
In addition, the following will be exhibited: △Companion animal AI diagnostic assistance service 'X Caliber' △Media processing and content quality improvement platform 'AI Media Studio' △Bio microscope 'Intelligence Vision' utilizing vision AI △AI data center (DC) technology including next-generation heat management method immersion cooling △Various AI-based network infrastructure technologies △Life-size UAM (urban air mobility) that can be virtually experienced.
Meanwhile, SKT will set up a separate space to exhibit 15 domestic innovative startups and ongoing ESG projects. Participating companies will present ESG implementation plans to solve social problems at the startup exhibition '4YFN (4 Years From Now)' located in Hall 8.1 of Fira Gran Via.
SKT President Yoo Young-sang plans to visit the MWC2024 site and discuss the 'Global Telco AI Alliance (GTAA)', which was officially launched in July of last year, in more detail on the stage of this MWC.

KT will introduce KT's digital technology based on next-generation network technology and AI innovation technology through two theme zones: △NEXT 5G and △AI LIFE, under the theme of 'KT, a digital innovation partner creating the future.'
KT is also focusing on large-scale AI and revealing various application cases. In the 'Generative AI Alliance' corner, you can see large-scale AI collaboration models such as AI semiconductors applied with LLM and 'Sovereign AI'. In the 'AI Contextual Advertising' corner, through joint research and development with Nasmedia, we will present an AI contextual customized advertising service that analyzes the advertising context through KT LLM and can target the optimal advertisement.
Additionally, the 'On Device AIoT' corner offers an opportunity to experience the on-device AIoT black box (EVDR) technology applied to shared kickboards, electric vehicle chargers, and smart signage for taxis. The 'Genieverse in School' corner is a place where you can experience 'Genieverse Road Name Address', which allows you to learn road name addresses in the metaverse space in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
KT also created a UAM experience space in the NEXT 5G zone that applies network technology specialized for aviation networks. It introduces an intelligent traffic management system that safely manages UAM traffic with AI and exhibits innovative network services and technologies that provide added convenience and security to customers.
In addition, they will showcase 'open network API' technology that allows customers to easily access global business networks and utilize network resources such as connectivity, 'engineering platform' that provides analysis simulation solutions in a cloud HPC (high-performance computing) environment, etc. They also plan to showcase 'quantum cryptography communication', a hacking prevention technology for wired and wireless networks, and 'network power saving technology' that reduces the power of communication infrastructure.
■ LG Uplus Forms Observation Team to Explore AI Trends LG Uplus will participate as an observer rather than a booth holder. It announced that it will form an employee observation group to explore AI and ICT trends and lay the foundation for pioneering the AI market. Along with CEO Hwang Hyeon-sik, key executives including Consumer Division Director Jeong Su-heon, NW Division Director Kwon Jun-hyeok, Corporate Division Director Kwon Yong-hyeon, CDO Hwang Gyu-byeol, and CTO Lee Sang-yeop will participate in this MWC2024.
The LG Uplus employee observation group will focus on exploring 5.5G/6G, AI, etc. LG Uplus said, “In addition to exhibiting services and products, we will focus on discovering new business opportunities that fit the changing market environment through communication with leaders in AI-based solutions, 5G-based industrial innovation, and XR/metaverse technology.”
In addition, the company announced that it plans to discuss future cooperation plans with partners in various fields, such as Google, Amazon Web Services (IT services), and overseas mobile carriers, in order to establish a foundation for customer experience innovation.
