Leveraging Intel On-Device AI
CyberLink, a multimedia software developer, announced on the 4th that it has collaborated with Intel to integrate on-device AI frame interpolation technology into its video editing software, PowerDirector.
AI Frame Interpolation technology is one of the AI technologies that has been continuously added since the generative AI technology was installed in PowerDirector. This technology, which utilizes Intel VPL, analyzes the movement and video data of the video with PowerDirector's AI algorithm to increase the frame rate of the original video.
Frame rate refers to the number of images displayed per second in a video. If the frame rate is low, the video may appear choppy and not smooth. The new 'AI Frame Interpolation' technology that will be included in PowerDirector uses cutting-edge AI to analyze the dynamic image data of the original video and convert it into a higher frame rate video.
You can easily upscale 24fps (frames per second) video to 120fps with just a few clicks. This feature is based on Intel Core Ultra processors and Intel VPL technology, and can be used for video processing tasks that require high computing performance, such as panning or slow motion video editing using PowerDirector. It is expected to be useful in editing scenes with a lot of movement, such as sports videos, as it can smoothen the movement of objects in the video.
“With the new AI Frame Interpolation feature coming to PowerDirector, we’re taking the video editing experience to a whole new level and enabling more proactive use of AI technology in the content creation process,” said Vincent Lin, CEO of CyberLink’s First Business Unit.
“Leveraging the power of AI, Intel and CyberLink have been able to deliver innovative video transformation tools for content creators,” said Sudhir Tonse, general manager of AI Software Engineering at Intel. “With AI frame interpolation technology, content creators can easily achieve smoother and sharper video effects.”
