MTCH2120 Touch Controller Released
Microchip Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MCHP), a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, today announced a controller that allows developers to quickly upgrade mechanical buttons to the latest touch-based technologies, enabling them to easily implement advanced touch capabilities.
Microchip announced on the 19th that it has released the MTCH2120 touch controller that helps developers easily implement touch button functions.
This product supports 12 buttons, is low-power and water-resistant, and offers a quick and easy way to upgrade your mechanical buttons to the latest touch-based ones.
The MTCH2120 is the first in a line of Inter-Integrated Circuit (I2C)-based touch controllers supported by Microchip’s comprehensive ecosystem.
This controller provides a powerful touch function that is unaffected by environmental factors such as noise and moisture, and boasts high flexibility that can be adjusted to suit the requirements of each product.
Additionally, the low power feature allows buttons to be grouped to reduce power consumption while still allowing the buttons to be operated.
Key features of the MTCH2120 include the Easy Tune function, which automatically adjusts sensitivity and filter levels based on real-time noise evaluation.
On the host device It provides direct connection to Microchip's MCUs and MPUs through the MPLAB® Harmony Host Code Configurator plug-in without the need to separately implement the I2C protocol, and also supports design verification through MPLAB Data Visualizer.
Additionally, it is accessible and compatible with Microchip's touch library, minimizing the need for complex software engineering and firmware processing, thereby shortening the development cycle.
“The MTCH2120 combines Microchip’s decades of experience in touch technology with a comprehensive support system and development tool ecosystem to enable developers to easily implement advanced touch capabilities,” said Rodger Richey, vice president of Microchip’s development systems and university outreach programs. “The MTCH2120 is a win-win solution, enabling developers to achieve the highest level of touch robustness and unprecedented design flexibility without any sensitivity tuning or programming.”
The MTCH2120 offers the same robust touch performance and uncomplicated general-purpose input/output (GPIO) interface as the recently released MTCH1010, MTCH1030 and MTCH1060. Microchip’s portfolio of turnkey touch solutions continues to expand to provide more solutions for a variety of markets.
The MTCH2120 touch controller is designed to be integrated with Microchip’s integrated ecosystem to streamline the development process and ease the transition to other turnkey solutions and MCU-based touch systems.
