High bandwidth data transfer and seamless communication between multiple devices
A high-performance PCIe switch solution for automotive, industrial, and data center applications where high-bandwidth data transfer and seamless communication between multiple devices are essential has been introduced.
Microchip Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MCHP), a leader in microcontroller, mixed-signal and analog semiconductors, today announced sampling of its Switchtec™ PCIe Gen 4.0 switches, the PCI100x family, supporting packet switching and multi-host applications.
The PCI1005 model is a packet switch that expands a single host PCIe port to up to six endpoints, while the PCI1003 model supports multi-host connectivity through NTB (Non-Transparent Bridging).
All devices are PCI-SIG Gen5 compliant and operate at speeds up to 16 GT/s.
It supports high-speed DMA and features advanced Switchtec technologies such as AER (Automatic Error Reporting), DPC (Downstream Port Containment), and CTS (Completion Timeout Synthesis).
PCI100x devices are rated for operation over a wide temperature range, including commercial, industrial, and automotive grade 2.
Charles Forni, vice president of Microchip’s USB and Networking business unit, said,;The PCI100x family of products provides cost-effective solutions that maintain high performance and reliability, enabling developers to leverage PCIe switch capabilities in automotive and embedded computing applications,” he said.
Microchip also provides customers with a variety of key components, including timing, power management and sensors, he added.
Microchip's PCIe switch portfolio provides high-density, low-power, reliable solutions for data centers, GPU servers, SSD enclosures and embedded computing.
The portfolio supports a wide range of markets, including Flashtec® NVMe® controllers, NVRAM drives, Ethernet PHYs and switches, timing solutions, and flash-based FPGAs and SoCs.
The PCI1005 and PCI1003 switches are available now in limited sample quantities, with the commercial-grade PCI1005 priced at $43 each in 1,000-unit quantities.
