Stable even in harsh environments, optimized for edge computing and machine learning
STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, has further enhanced its next-generation industrial and IoT solutions with the launch of an MPU that maintains stable performance in harsh environments up to 125°C.
STMicroelectronics today announced the availability of its latest general-purpose microprocessor (MPU), the STM32MP23, for industrial and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications.
This new product ensures stable operation even in high-temperature environments and provides functions optimized for edge computing, advanced HMI, and machine learning applications.
The STM32MP23 MPU features a dual-core Arm® Cortex®-A35 clocked at up to 1.5GHz and a 400MHz Cortex-M33, delivering powerful performance and efficiency.
It also includes a neural network accelerator that provides 0.6TOPS performance, making it suitable for implementing AI and machine learning-based applications.
This MPU can be used in various fields such as smart factories, smart cities, and smart homes, and provides AI-based functions such as vision-based interaction and predictive maintenance.
Other notable features include support for 1080p60 video resolution via H.264 decoder and real-time graphics processing performance via 3D GPU.
> It also boasts strong performance in the security sector. The STM32MP23 series aims for SESIP3 and PSA Level 1 certification and features secure boot, Arm TrustZone™ architecture, and hardware cryptographic accelerators.
ST has announced that, in conjunction with the launch of the STM32MP23, it is extending the support period for its OpenSTLinux distribution from two years to five years, ensuring that developers receive continuous security patch updates and facilitating compliance with the requirements of the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
The STM32MP23 offers 0.8mm and 0.5mm pitch options that simplify four-layer PCB designs based on plated through-holes, and is pin-to-pin compatible with the STM32MP25 MPU. It is fully specified over the industrial temperature range from -40°C to a maximum junction temperature of 125°C, ensuring reliable performance in harsh environments.
STM32MP23 series MPUs are in production now, priced from $8.46 for orders of 1,000 pieces.
