World's first RF isolation technology applied current probe and 3-channel bidirectional power supply
Tektronix is responding to the demand for high-voltage, high-efficiency power solutions by launching two innovative power measurement devices that can measure a variety of high voltages that were previously difficult to access.
Tektronix announced today the launch of the TICP Series IsoVu™ Isolated Current Probes, the world’s first to introduce RF isolation technology, and the EA-PSB 20000 Triple Series 3-channel bidirectional power supply.
Tektronix's TICP isolated current probes can accurately and safely measure rapidly changing currents from low voltage to high voltage systems. The EA-PSB 20000 Triple Series features energy regeneration capabilities to support multi-channel, high-density testing with a single device.
The TICP Series IsoVu™ Isolated Current Probes are the industry's first current shunt probes to use RF isolation technology, providing complete isolation between the measurement system and the device under test.
It overcomes the limitations of existing measurement methods by realizing complete electrical isolation between the measurement system and the measured device.
It provides wider bandwidth and exhibits low noise characteristics, especially in high-voltage environments. This probe supports bandwidths up to 1 GHz and can accurately measure rapidly changing currents from microamperes (μA) to kiloamperes (kA) in nanoseconds.
TICP Series IsoVu™ isolated current probes: △Complete electrical isolation with RF isolation technology, eliminating ground loops △Provide common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) more than 30x higher than conventional differential voltage probes (up to 140 dB at DC, 90 dB at 1 MHz) △Ultra-low noise: Less than 4.7 nV/√Hz into 50Ω input in 1X configuration (less than 150 μV at 1 GHz) △Available in three bandwidths: 1 GHz (TICP100), 500 MHz (TICP050), and 250 MHz (TICP025) △TekVPI™ probe interface provides full compatibility with Tektronix 4/5/6 Series MSO oscilloscopes.
“The TICP isolated current probes deliver breakthrough performance that addresses a wide range of high-voltage measurement challenges previously inaccessible, from silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN)-based high-speed switching power converters to battery performance testing in mobile devices,” said Daryl Ellis, general manager, Entry and Mainstream Portfolio at Tektronix. “At a time when innovation in the global power industry is accelerating, we have set a new standard that will drive technological advancements in key industries such as automotive and renewable energy.”
The EA-PSB 20000 Triple series is the most compact 3-channel bidirectional DC power supply on the market. It enables high-density parallel testing for component testing of complex systems and can supply up to 10kW of power per channel. It supports voltages up to 920V and currents up to 340A to accommodate a variety of test environments.
The biggest feature of this product is that it can integrate multiple test equipment into one. This can reduce costs as well as greatly reduce equipment demand and test time. In particular, the auto-ranging function can automatically adjust voltage or current to provide maximum power over a wide operating range, allowing testing of various voltage and current combinations with one device.
Key features of the EA-PSB 20000 Triple series include: △Three independent and fully isolated bidirectional DC channels △DC electronic load function with up to 96% energy recovery △Maximum total power per channel: Up to 30kW, voltage range: 0-60V to 0-920V, current range: 0-40A to 0-340A △Supports advanced parallel testing with electrically isolated Share-Bus △Equipped with high-speed CAN-FD communication interface △Saves 50% of rack space compared to single-channel power supplies.
“The EA-PSB 20000 Triple delivers higher power density and test capacity in a single compact device, enabling engineers in fast-evolving sectors like automotive and renewable energy to quickly address diverse test requirements,” said James Hitchcock, vice president and general manager at EA. “Our goal continues to be to provide our customers with more power, more efficiently.”
TICP IsoVu probes will be available for order from November 13, 2024, and the EA-PSB 20000 Triple Series is currently available for pre-order with sequential shipments starting in January 2025.
