한국재료연구원(KIMS, 원장 최철진)과 한화에어로스페이스(대표 손재일)가 ‘2025년 1차 기술교류회’를 개최하고, 항공엔진 소재기술 개발 실적을 공유했다.
The first technology exchange meeting in 2025
Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS, President Choi Cheol-jin) and Hanwha Aerospace (CEO Son Jae-il) shared their achievements in developing aircraft engine material technology.
The Materials Research Institute announced on the 24th that it held the '2025 1st Technology Exchange Meeting' in the seminar room of the Materials Research Institute's main building located in Changwon, Gyeongnam.
This exchange meeting was held to discuss the achievements and current status of technology development between the two organizations in order to promote cooperation and joint development of materials technology related to aircraft engines.
The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding and technology transfer agreement in October 2024 to promise mutual cooperation for research and development of aircraft gas turbine materials.
Through this agreement, Materials Research Institute has agreed to transfer nickel-based single crystal super heat-resistant alloy material technology to Hanwha Aerospace.
At this exchange meeting, both organizations presented their development achievements in material technology and research status.
The Materials Research Institute introduced its research and development performance related to heat-resistant materials for aircraft engines, lightweight materials, artificial intelligence, and special processes, as well as its plan to establish an extreme materials demonstration research complex.
Hanwha Aerospace announced its development performance and status of advanced aircraft engine materials, including casting, forging, material design database, coating, and additive manufacturing.
The two organizations plan to proceed with the process of deriving and selecting ideas for collaborative technology projects through future working-level meetings, starting with this technology exchange meeting.
Material age President Choi Cheol-jin said, “If advanced aerospace engine material technology is realized, it will be able to establish itself as a key player in the national aerospace industry,” and added, “We will spare no support so that the efforts and cooperation of both organizations can lead to tangible results.”
