oneM2M 69th Technology General Assembly Held, Contributing to Smart City Standardization
The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI, President Shin Hee-dong) and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) jointly held the 'oneM2M 69th Technology General Assembly' in Jeju.
At this meeting, the standardization contribution for AI and robot linkage technology based on CitiVerse, a smart city operation platform, was officially approved, establishing a position to lead the standardization of future city services.
oneM2M is an international cooperative organization launched in 2012 to develop global standards in the field of machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. Standards agencies from major countries, including Korea, Europe, the United States, China, and Japan, as well as approximately 200 companies and research institutes are participating.
This general meeting was held with the support of the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, and the latest IoT technology trends and smart city standardization directions were intensively discussed.
At the general meeting, the development of standards for city bus-based technologies combining AI, robots, and metaverse was selected as a key agenda.
City Bus is a smart city operation platform that digitally replicates a real city and predicts and manages problems in virtual space. KETI and ETRI are actively participating in establishing the concept and standard system.
At this meeting, KETI led discussions on standardization of AI-supported technologies and robot operating system (ROS) linkage technologies, and agreed on the format of AI datasets. It brought about justice.
In addition, by submitting a contribution on the ROS integration method and receiving official approval, we have demonstrated our ability to lead international standardization in related technology fields.
“As AI technology advances, demand for IoT-based AI support is rapidly increasing,” said Ko Jae-jin, head of KETI’s Convergence System Research Center. “Through this technology conference, we have confirmed the potential for the convergence of IoT, AI, and robot technology, and we will continue international standardization activities to strengthen the global competitiveness of domestic technology and expand overseas expansion.”
