'Single Image-Based 3D Human Modeling Service' Technological Innovation Attention
Polygom Co., Ltd. (CEO Joo-hong Yoon), a startup company of the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI, President Hee-dong Shin), won the Innovation Awards at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, the world's largest home appliance and IT trade show, just one year after its founding, showing the fruits of KETI's public technology-based startup support efforts.
Polygom announced that it won an innovation award for its 'Single Image-Based 3D Human Modeling Service' at CES 2025, held in Las Vegas, USA from January 7th to 10th.
This technology creates a digital avatar with just one image using AI technology and then generates realistic animation based on it.
When users utilize this service, they can easily perform complex tasks such as 3D modeling, rigging, and animation with just a single photo, allowing them to produce video content with high efficiency and low cost.
Polygom's service is characterized by precisely dividing each body part, including the subject's face, torso, arms, and legs, and then accurately restoring the texture and shape of each part through UV mapping technology.
While the traditional 3D modeling process required multiple cameras and post-production, Polygom's technology allows for body modeling with just one camera or single image. Because it implements shape, posture, and facial details in a way that is close to real life, it can shorten the avatar creation time and also reduce the cost of animation production that requires expensive equipment.
In addition, since this technology is compatible with various platforms such as desktop computers and cloud-based services, it is expected to expand to industries where 3D avatars are highly utilized, such as games, XR, and digital content.
Polygom Co., Ltd. plans to launch 'RUNWAI', an AI fashion service based on 3D modeling, in collaboration with a clothing platform company in the first half of the year.
CEO Yoon Joo-hong said, “I was sorry to leave the research results at KETI only as patents, so I was constantly thinking about the possibility of commercialization, and in the process, I was able to start a business with the support of business planning, investment, and IR at the research center.” He added, “With this award as an opportunity, Polygom will grow into a key player in the global metaverse ecosystem and expand user-centered content services.”
KETI President Shin Hee-dong said, “Polygom’s award is a valuable achievement made possible by combining the technological capabilities of our researchers and our in-house startup support program.” He added, “KETI will continue to do its best to provide research and development, commercialization, and financial support so that public technology-based startups can be competitive on the global stage.”
