Wireless Energy Transfer System Based on Magnetic Induction Resonance

With the recent rapid proliferation of various mobile devices, the inconvenience of wired power supply has significantly increased interest in wireless charging and wireless power transmission, creating new market opportunities in related industry sectors. This includes wireless power transmission technology using electromagnetic waves for transmitting large power exceeding several kilowatts, which is actively researched mainly in military applications, and magnetic induction technology that primarily provides charging at distances close to contact, such as a few millimeters, as seen in electric toothbrushes and electronic candles where long-distance power transmission efficiency is poor. Additionally, there is wireless power transmission technology utilizing magnetic resonance, which achieves high power transmission efficiency over longer distances by matching the resonant frequency between the transmitting and receiving coils. Through this seminar, we will introduce wireless power transmission technology, examine the mobile wireless power transmission implementation technology being developed at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, and identify wireless power transmission technology trends and domestic and international standardization trends.
