STM32 MCU external memory interface - Maximizing STM32 utilization through memory expansion
This webinar introduces an overview and practical usage of F(S)MC and quad SPI, which are key peripherals for external memory expansion included in STM32 MCUs.
As MCU architecture and manufacturing technology have advanced in recent years, the scope of MCU applications has expanded from traditional low-power and stability-focused auxiliary controller products to solutions requiring high-level external resources previously handled by high-performance main processors, including graphics solutions, large-scale data collection and processing solutions, and external device connection solutions such as FPGAs that support memory interfaces.
Accordingly, STM32 MCUs provide various external memory interfaces to overcome the limitations of built-in Flash memory and SRAM and enable diverse solution development.
This course presents technical content and related examples for the FMC peripheral for connecting general-purpose parallel interface memory (static, dynamic memory) and peripherals for connecting quad SPI memory, which has seen increasing use in recent years, among STM32 MCU external memory expansion features. This will be helpful to developers who wish to use STM32 MCUs in solutions requiring external memory expansion.
