ADI's Innovative Wideband RF Transceiver Solution with Embedded DPD
Small Cell and Massive MIMO are key solutions for expanding base station capacity and coverage in the transition from 4G to 5G technology. However, RF designers face the challenge of reducing size, weight, and cost due to increased radio density. While developing numerous models for various frequency bands and output levels requires considerable time, there is also a need to shorten development cycles.
The previously released AD9371 supports various bands from 300M to 6GHz with Rx bandwidth up to 100MHz maximum, enabling the development of diverse models on a single platform, which has been instrumental in overcoming RF designers' challenges. However, the AD9375, which for the first time integrates DPD (Digital Predistortion) functionality to improve PA linearity, is expected to be an optimal solution that dramatically reduces FPGA resource requirements and significantly lowers power consumption in systems with very high radio density such as Small Cell or Massive MIMO.
